Clint Eastwood's completion of the Iwo Jima saga. Here the action
is seen from the Japanese point of view and the film is based on
the book 'Picture Letters from Commander in Chief' by Tadamichi
Kuribayashi. The island of Iwo Jima stands between the American
military force and the home islands of Japan. Therefore the
Imperial Japanese Army is desperate to prevent it from falling into
American hands and providing a launching point for an invasion of
Japan. General Tadamichi Kuribayashi (Ken Watanabe) is given
command of the forces on the island and sets out to prepare for the
imminent attack. General Kuribayashi, however, does not favour the
rigid traditional approach recommended by his subordinates, and
resentment and resistance fester among his staff.
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 44th International
Conference on Application and Theory of Petri Nets and Concurrency,
PETRI NETS 2023, which took place in Lisbon, Portugal, in June
2023. The 21 full papers included in this book were carefully
reviewed and selected from 47 submissions. They were organized in
topical sections as follows: Process mining; semantics; tools;
verification; timed models; model transformation. The book also
includes two invited talks in full paper length.Â

Clint Eastwood directs this drama based on the autobiography of
Chelsey Sullenberger. Tom Hanks stars as pilot Chelsey 'Sully'
Sullenberger and Aaron Eckhart as his co-pilot Jeff Skiles, who
were at the helm of Flight 1549 in 2009 when, shortly after
take-off, the plane hit a large flock of birds which disabled both
engines. In the face of immediate danger, Sully took the decision
to make an emergency landing on the Hudson River and successfully
managed to save the lives of everyone on board. Laura Linney also
stars as Sully's wife Lorraine.
