Wahrend auf europaischer Ebene Konvergenzprozesse zwischen den Mitgliedstaaten zu beobachten sind, zeigen sich abhangig von den verwendeten Kriterien die regionalen Disparitaten weitgehend persistent oder vergrossern sich noch. Als wichtiges Merkmal zur Beurteilung der wirtschaftlichen Lage einer Region gilt dabei die Beschaftigung. Diese Arbeit konzentriert sich daher auf die Identifizierung der empirisch entscheidenden Determinanten der Beschaftigungsentwicklung, die Darstellung der theoretischen Grundlagen ihrer Wirkungsweise und die Diskussion der Umsetzbarkeit dieser Mechanismen in einem regionalen CGE Modell.
