Reimagining Roald Dahl's beloved story for a modern audience, Robert Zemeckis's visually innovative THE WITCHES tells the darkly humorous and heart-warming tale of a young orphaned boy who, in late 1967, goes to live with his loving Grandma in the rural Alabama town of Demopolis. The boy and his grandmother come across some deceptively glamorous but thoroughly diabolical witches, so Grandma wisely whisks our young hero away to an opulent seaside resort instead. Regrettably, they arrive at precisely the same time that the world's Grand High Witch has gathered her fellow cronies from around the globe—undercover—to carry out her nefarious plans.
Romantic novelist Joan Wilder (Kathleen Turner) finds her stories coming to life when she enlists the help of mercenary Jack Colton (Michael Douglas) to find her sister missing in Columbia, and the priceless El Corazon jewel. As Joan has the only map leading to the treasure, the pair are relentlessly pursued through the jungle, where passion blooms. With Danny DeVito, Zack Norman and Mary Ellen Trainor.
Robert Zemeckis co-writes and directs this fantasy adventure based on
Roald Dahl's novel. While living with his grandmother, Agatha (Octavia
Spencer), in 1950s Alabama, young orphan Charlie Hansen (Jahzir Bruno)
stumbles upon a convention being held by a coven of witches,
masquerading as the International Society for the Prevention of Cruelty
to Children, at the Grand Orleans Imperial Island Hotel. When he is
caught and turned into a mouse by the Grand High Witch (Anne Hathaway),
however, Charlie and his grandmother must find a way to stop the
witches' evil scheme to eliminate all of the world's children.
This film mixes live action and animation. Bob Hoskins plays a seedy private eye who is sent on an investigation in Toon-town, an L.A. suburb which houses all the cartoon characters. Jessica Rabbit, a sexy, almost human toon, is up to all sorts of mischief and Hoskins is out to find out exactly what she's doing, involving himself in murder and intrigue.

Not since THE BIG CHILL has America been as captivated by a soundtrack as it has by FORREST GUMP. While THE BIG CHILL was more or less Motown-era songs geared towards baby-boomers, FORREST GUMP is a musical time machine spaced out over two discs. Opening with Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog," this aural odyssey ends with Bob Seger's "Against The Wind" followed by composer Alan Silvestri's instrumental "Forrest Gump Suite." In between, a host of popular genres are represented from the roughly thirty year span covered in the film. On the first disc there's rockabilly (Duane Eddy), Motown (The Four Tops), folk (Joan Baez), soul (Aretha Franklin), surf music (The Beach Boys), and pop (Jackie De Shannon). The second disc continues with protest music (Jefferson Airplane), more Motown (The Supremes), southern rock (Lynyrd Skynyrd), easy listening (B.J. Thomas), and country (Willie Nelson). This collection is tailor-made for the random button or a CD changer at any party.
Robert Zemeckis' award-winning fable about the American dream. Forrest Gump is a good-natured but simple man. As he recounts his home-spun words of wisdom, he reminisces on his life's progress, from crippled child to decorated military hero, illustrating how America has changed over the years.
Academy Award Winner

In order to do so, the ghosts take him on a journey through time, opening his eyes to the truths he is yet to face and the consequences should he refuse to do so. But in the end it is up to old Scrooge himself to realise the emptiness of his existence and open up his heart before it is too late.
