The Palgrave Handbook of FinTech and Blockchain (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2021): Maurizio Pompella, Roman Matousek The Palgrave Handbook of FinTech and Blockchain (Hardcover, 1st ed. 2021)
Maurizio Pompella, Roman Matousek
R6,422 Discovery Miles 64 220 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Financial services technology and its effect on the field of finance and banking has been of major importance within the last few years. The spread of these so-called disruptive technologies, including Blockchain, has radically changed financial markets and transformed the operation of the industry as a whole. This is the first multidisciplinary handbook of FinTech and Blockchain covering finance, economics, and legal aspects globally. With comprehensive coverage of the current landscape of financial technology alongside a forward-looking approach, the chapters are devoted to the spread of structured finance, ICT, distributed ledger technology (DLT), cybersecurity, data protection, artificial intelligence, and cryptocurrencies. Given an unprecedented 2020, the contributions also address the consequences of the current emergency, and the pandemic stroke, which is revolutionizing social and economic paradigms and heavily affecting Fintech, Blockchain, and the banking sector as well, and would be of particular interest to finance academics and researchers alongside banking and financial services professionals.

Financial Integration in the European Union (Paperback): Roman Matousek, Daniel Stavarek Financial Integration in the European Union (Paperback)
Roman Matousek, Daniel Stavarek
R1,682 Discovery Miles 16 820 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

This edited collection assesses the level of financial integration in the European Union (EU) and the differences across the countries and segments of the EU financial system. Progress in financial integration is key to the EU s economic growth and competitiveness and although it has advanced substantially, the process is still far from completion. This book focuses on the pace of financial integration in the EU with special emphasis on the new EU Member States and investigates their progress in comparison with old EU countries.

The book is the first of its kind to include and evaluate the effects of the global financial crisis on the process of EU financial integration. In particular, the book s contributors address the issue of whether a high degree of financial integration contributed to the intensification of the financial crisis, or whether a low level of integration prevented countries and financial industries from some of the negative effects of the crisis. Although most of the chapters apply contemporary econometric tools, the technical part is always reduced to indispensable minimum and the emphasis is given to economic interpretation of the results. The book aims to offer an up to date and insightful examination of the process of financial integration in the EU today. "

Money in the Modern World (Paperback, New edition): Josef Jilek, Roman Matousek Money in the Modern World (Paperback, New edition)
Josef Jilek, Roman Matousek
R1,868 Discovery Miles 18 680 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

The book explains the framework of the money, liquidity and monetary policy in the USA, the Eurozone, Japan, and the United Kingdom. Even if the book is based on contemporary banking practice, it arises from careful examination of the historical development of opinions on money, liquidity and monetary policy. The authors claim that money and liquidity (and the financial system as a whole) are demonstrated best through financial statements (balance sheet and income statement) which are based on accounting. Thus any operation is clarified through double-entry record. Furthermore, the fundamentals of the payment systems are outlined.

Cross-Border Interbank Contagion Risk Analysis - Evidence from Selected Emerging and Less-Developed Economies in the... Cross-Border Interbank Contagion Risk Analysis - Evidence from Selected Emerging and Less-Developed Economies in the Asia-Pacific Region (Paperback)
Roman Matousek, Ole Rummel
R629 Discovery Miles 6 290 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

This Element provides a detailed overview of the structural changes in the Asia-Pacific region from the early 2000s onwards. It reviews the most relevant literature on this important topic. The following two research areas are explored: first, by deploying visual network analysis (VNA), we analyse cross-border interbank claims and liabilities of the individual countries located in the Asia-Pacific region. Such an analysis evaluates interbank exposures to systematically important banks within the specific market. The important advantage of VNA is that it allows us to examine the 'hierarchical' cross-country interbank contagion risk that seems to have been neglected in similar studies. Secondly, we evaluate the contagion risk to the individual countries spreading from the financial centres in Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, New York and London. The analysis unveils links and statistical factors that could be used as a key tool for detecting the potential triggers of systemic risk.
