Just A Poor Country Girl is a coming of age book based on the life of Charley Louise Dorsey, born in Natchez, Mississippi where at age 7 her mother and aunt left her father behind to settle in White Cloud, Michigan. After a failed marriage and having to get on Welfare, Charley Louise went to Michigan State University where she graduated working herself out of the Welfare system.

Idlewild and Woodland Park, Michigan is one of the countries first African American resorts, owned and operated by African Americans. This book is a historical compilation of interviews conducted during the summers of 1994 and 1995 with some of the few original owners or families still holding property ownership in Idlewild and Woodland Park, Michigan The reader will see some of the individuals whose families helped to create these two beautiful communities by telling their family's history.
