Three-part BBC television miniseries about the notorious 18th century lothario, written by Russell T. Davies and starring David Tennant and Peter O'Toole. The aged Casanova (O'Toole) is living out his days as the custodian of a library in Bohemia when he meets young serving girl Edith (Rose Byrne). He begins to tell her about his infamous escapades as a young man (played by Tennant), when he scandalised Europe and was exiled from his native Venice for crimes against the government and church. Wandering through Enlightenment Europe, Casanova reinvents himself constantly as a poet, philosopher, spy, black magician, petty conman and, of course, lover, eventually incurring the wrath of the Venetian ambassador to Britain, Grimani (Rupert Penry-Jones), after he falls in love with his wife, Henriette (Laura Fraser). Wounded in a duel with Grimani, Casanova returns home but is unable to forget the one woman he truly loves.
All 18 episodes from the first, second and third series of the BBC courtroom drama written by Peter Moffat and set in the cut-throat world of British criminal law. Maxine Peake and Rupert Penry-Jones star as Martha Costello and Clive Reader, two ambitious young defence barristers who are in the process of applying to become QCs (Queen's Counsel) or 'silks'. Under extreme pressure to perform well and make tough decisions quickly, the pair must overcome their doubts, fears and even their principles to prove themselves at the Bar.
2008 adaptation of the classic novel by John Buchan and the 1935 Alfred Hitchcock film. Set just before the outbreak of World War I, the film stars Rupert Penry Jones as Richard Hannay, a Scottish expatriate living in London, who gets caught up in a deadly conspiracy when Scudder, a man claiming to be a British spy, is murdered in his flat. Before his death, Scudder informed Hannay of a German conspiracy to destabilise Europe. Spurred on by this shocking revelation, Hannay flees to Scotland in hope of foiling the plot, with the help of fiery suffragette, Victoria Sinclair (Lydia Leonard).
