Triple bill of zombie films. 'Zombie Apocalypse' (2011) is a made-for-TV horror starring Ving Rhames in which a group of human survivors of a zombie outbreak set out to make it to an uninfected island. Ramona (Taryn Manning), Billy (Eddie Steeples) and Kevin (Gerald Webb) are almost killed when they head out to search for food. Fortunately for them, they meet a tough group that includes Henry (Rhames) and Cassie (Lesley-Ann Brandt), who take on the zombies with weapons as diverse as a sledgehammer and a samurai sword. 'Abraham Lincoln Vs Zombies' (2012) is a tongue-in-cheek zombie horror in which Abraham Lincoln is distracted from his composition of the Gettysburg Address by a more pressing concern - an outbreak of the undead. Lincoln (Bill Oberst Jr.) leads a team of Secret Service agents to the area to try and contain the disaster. There is a suggestion that Lincoln may have some experience of dealing with zombies from his past and he takes under his wing a youngster by the name of Teddy Roosevelt (Canon Kuipers), who may have a role of his own to play in the American story. 'The Dead' (2010) is a zombie horror set in West Africa. Robert Freeman stars as Lieutenant Brian Murphy, a military engineer who finds himself stranded in the wilderness of Burkina Faso after a zombie outbreak lays waste to civilisation. Eventually he teams up with Sergeant Daniel Dembele (Prince David Oseia), a local soldier who has gone AWOL from the army to search for his missing son.

Markets are usually discussed in abstract terms, as an economic organizing principle, a generalized alternative to government planning, or even as powerful actors in their own right, able to shape local and national economic destinies. But markets are not abstract. Even as the idea of the market seduces politicians around the world to take advantage of their abstract qualities, they constantly run up against material reality. Markets are always somewhere, in place, and it is in place that the smooth theories of markets falter and fail. More than simply being embedded in particular places, markets necessarily emerge in the various political, social, cultural, and environmental relations that exist in and between places. Markets shape places, but the reverse is also true. This collection of essays approaches markets from the ground up, and from a part of the world often still regarded as peripheral to global capitalism: the South Pacific. With a wide variety of case studies, including on indigenous economies, childcare, agriculture, wine, electricity metering, finance, education, and housing, the authors show how complex local, social and cultural politics matter to how markets are made within and between places, and the insights that can be gleaned from studying markets in this part of the world. They explore the way superficially similar markets work out differently in different places, and why, as well as examining how market relations are constructed in places outside and on the edges of the centres of Western capitalism, and what this says back to how markets are understood in those centres. This volume draws together three connected strands of research dealing with landscapes, lifecourses and mobilities, and will be of interest to social and cultural geographers and those in allied social science fields, particularly those with interests in the circulation of people and policy at a number of scales and locations. Landscapes might be considered to be a very mainstream geographical theme, though we treat them in an adventurous way by concentrating on infrastructure and ideology, art and resistance, as well as through a more mainstream exploration of multifunctional landscapes. Attention to diverse aspects of the lifecourse allows us to understand the social, spatial and structural complexities which characterise social relationships from birth to death. Mobilities, likewise, provide an opportunity to draw on some concepts from contemporary social and cultural geography relating to the movement of people and ideas over time and across space. Although much of the substantive content has a New Zealand and Australian orientation, it is presented in a way that engages with broader international literatures.
