The future world of Armistoria, and its beloved king, are in peril. Its people are being deceived into a soulless, hopeless eternity by an evil force known as Asheron and his followers, the Sepulcher. In time past, what some call the present, fifteen-year-old Sebastian Hanks and his five siblings, the children of two famed archaeologists from Cornell University, can be found at their home in Ithaca NY. Until now the children have been living careless lives, with no knowledge of their destiny in a future world. One evening, shortly before Christmas 2008, six mysterious trunks arrive in their attic. Suddenly finding magic in their lives, Sebastian is forced to lead them on a journey to find the secrets to the trunks. Having lived in the shadows of his parents' fame and wealth, Sebastian is not used to dealing with this kind of leadership or to living so close to the edge. Along the way, they meet Gina, who becomes a close friend and confidant, and Cyrus, a mysterious man who insists on protecting them. Not sure who to trust, the children find themselves unexpectedly in danger, thrust into a strange world of prophecies and portals. This is an amazing journey about Sebastian Hanks and his siblings finding themselves, their family, love, and a new world of magic that changes their lives forever.

Life for the Hanks children couldn't have changed more significantly. Spending their entire summer training, studying history, learning tactical skills from Alice and Cyrus, the siblings are isolated from virtually the whole world. Celebrating Sebastian's 16th birthday a little late, they are all surprised when their father shows up in Ithaca, alone, with news that their mother has been kidnapped by the man who may want them dead: James Tildon. And with little time to reconcile hurt feelings, Sebastian is forced into the first journey with only Ethan and Scotty for help. Gina and Cyrus travel through the trunk, but are pitted against them, having to play roles of the enemy: members of the Nazi party. The three Hanks children reluctantly put on their Star of David, are forced into the Jewish Ghettos, and have to overcome suffering, starvation, and potential death to find the Ring of Dolor.
