"Real Wyrd ? A Modern Shaman's Roots in the Middle World" is Kelley
Harrell's compilation of true paranormal experiences, from the
perspective of a lifelong intuitive. From waking to deathwalks in
the night to seeing apparitions in the light of day, you name it,
she's brushed up against it, whether she meant to?-or not so much.
Not your usual bump-in-the-night supernatural accounts, these trips
into the Middle World aren't always scary. Some are sweet, some are
affirming, and all of them left Harrell looking at herself and Life
differently. As a lifelong intuitive and neoshaman by choice for
over two decades, not all of her experiences with the spirit world
have had direction, instruction, or even clarity. Every one of
them, though, has meaning. Working with the unseen of the earthly
realm is an opportunity to learn about life out of form, and be of
some kind of service to spirits in need. Working with the other
side of death equips Harrell better this side of life. There are
many spiritual books on communicating with the dead and discarnate,
though most of them only extol the wonder and awe of that work.
They don't talk about the toll it takes on personal lives, or the
emotional perils faced learning to be healthy conduits for spirits.
Indeed this work is wonderful and awesome, but it can also be
scary, disorienting, and uprooting. Harrell shares these accounts
of paranormal exploration as part investigation, part curiosity,
and part luck of the draw in being a human equally aware of her
soul.
A step-by-step guide to working with the runes throughout the year.
The Old Norse runes, known as the Elder Futhark, have long joined
forces with the cycles of the seasons to offer powerful
initiations, guidance, and wisdom. Aligning the sacred festivals,
plantings, and harvests of ancient runic calendars with our modern
12-month calendar, Kelley Harrell reveals how the runes can once
again offer initiations as well as instruct us on the holy days and
creative rhythms of today. Drawing on her more than 25 years of
shamanic practice and runic study, Harrell offers a step-by-step
primer to work with the runes throughout the year. She explains how
the 24 runes of the Elder Futhark follow a seasonal progression in
which each stave rules the calendar for a half-month. She explores
the meaning of each rune in detail and presents structured runic
devotionals for each half-month, interwoven with guidance on how to
make the best use of the life force available during each season,
as well as runic initiation rituals for the 8 pagan Sabbats, or
holy days, such as the Summer Solstice (Litha) and Beltane (May
Day).By moving through Nature’s cycle with the runes, each year
becomes a reliable and trackable process of personalized growth and
spiritual connection. Progressing through the teachings of each
stave while honoring the seasons, Harrell’s year with the runes
becomes an initiation into a direct relationship with powers of
Nature. Â
