Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are

keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made

Tyrannosaurus rex may be the king of the dinosaurs, but that
doesn’t stop know-it-all Velociraptor from telling him he looks
old-fashioned and needs a makeover. So, with an improved posture,
some restyled body parts and a coat of shaggy feathers, T. rex gets
a new look to match the latest evidence. From the authors of The
Plesiosaur’s Neck, The Tyrannosaur’s Feathers takes an amusing
and informative look at how new discoveries have transformed our
understanding of T. rex’s appearance since this giant prehistoric
predator was first unearthed over a century ago.

"There's one thing about her that's hard to ignore, THAT RIDICULOUS
NECK! What on Earth was it for?" Poppy the plesiosaur had a
preposterously long neck - but what was it for? Did she use it to
pluck off pesky parasites, to zap predators with electricity or to
ambush unlucky fish? From the brilliant minds of world-renowned
plesiosaur expert Dr Adam S. Smith, award-winning author Jonathan
Emmett and illustrator Adam Larkum.

What do we value about the past? In formulating policies about
heritage preservation, that is the inevitable question, and deals
not only with economic value but also the intangible value to
individuals, communities and society as a whole. This
interdisciplinary group of scholars--anthropologists,
archaeologists, architects, educators, lawyers, heritage
administrators, policy analysts, and consultants--make the first
attempt to define and assess heritage values on a local, national
and global level. Chapters range from the theoretical to policy
frameworks to case studies of heritage practice, written by
scholars from eight countries.
Well researched and constructive, this volume is concerned with the
historical and contemporary discourse on African development and
the continent's place in the global economy. The chapters
critically explore the roles played by various global and local
social forces in the construction of the New Partnership for
Africa's Development (NEPAD) offering critical insights on
financing for development, the WTO and agriculture, ICTs and FDIs
and the war on terrorism. NEPAD has been endorsed by the African
Union, the Group of Eight and the United Nations System in order to
address Africa's deficit through the forging of a global
development partnership. This timely resource is suitable for
students and policymakers concerned with development in the African
postcolonies.
Originally published in 1976, this book combines detailed technical
studies of the diplomacy of the land and waterborne warfare of
pre-colonial West Africa. It draws attention to the connexion
between these topics as dual aspects of international relations and
refers to those parts of West African indigenous diplomacy, showing
how these resembled and diverged from practice elsewhere. The
causes and consequences of West African wars are analysed and the
wide range of weaponry, armour and transport used by armies is also
discussed. Strategy and tactics of the wars in relation to
defensive operations are also examined. Throughout the book a
considerable body of evidence from many sources is deployed to
justify both the factual content and the conclusions which are
drawn.
Originally published in 1969 and as a second edition in 1976, this
book gives a general account of the major Yoruba kingdoms and
provides a synthesis of Yoruba and Igbomina history, culture and
archaeology. The reasons for, and the chronology of the decline and
fall of Old Oyo are also discussed. Much of the history
reconstructed in this book was done so almost wholly from oral
histories, with all evidence being subjected to rigorous
examination.
This book contains a unique set of information sheets, covering all
aspects of building from sit setting-out to roofs and floors. It
gives builders and students of building a sound knowledge of
materials, their properties and limitations, and shows the practice
of using these materials for sound construction. The sheets also
give information on the Building Regulations and how to comply with
them.
Places Apuleius' work within the context of the religious climate
and developments at the time it was written.

Published in 1979: No earlier edition of this play offers a
satisfactory text because an old-spelling critical edition requires
a conflation of the author's autograph manuscript and the first
printed edition of 1639. Further, this play, while illustrating
Caroline skepticism concerning the character of a personage long
famous in narrative and dramatic literature as well as in history,
departs from the literary tradition of the preceding three
centuries. An account of the reasons for its departure invites
consideration of its sources, but more important, of the beliefs of
the dramatist's contemporaries as shown in both life and
literature.
