This Is A New Release Of The Original 1861 Edition.
1858. The basis of the world is power. It lives in us and in every
thing. From the beginning it came forth from God, and was uttered
in the philosophies of great teachers and prophets of the ancient
world. God has not placed it here to remain inactive: it strives,
creates, institutes. So long as the world is filled with it, so
long will its efforts continue, for power expresses the will of
God. This work proceeds upon the conviction that there has been a
gradual rise of systems, one cultus growing out of another. Thought
grows like a plant. New fruits become the bases of further
developments. The present perpetually evolves new power.
1861. Our subject is the prehistoric Hesus, the Secret Gathering,
the Mysteries of Religion and the Religion of the mysteries. The
Old Testament is the first offshoot of the mysteries; the New
Testament is the second. See other works by this author available
from Kessinger Publishing.
1861. The growing power of the infant Gnosticism acting with
inspiration upon the quick warm nature of the Jordan Nazarenes laid
the seed which, nourished by the accumulated wisdom of the
illustrious teachers of the Pharisees, ultimately ripened into the
New Testament - the priceless pearl of the Jewish conception. The
earliest Gnosticism in Irenaeus extends a hand to the Gnosticism of
the Kaball. Irenaeus's Gnostica, the Codex Basareus, the oldest
parts of the Kabbala, the first three chapters of Genesis, the New
Testament theology, Hippolytus, and some extracts from the Rabbins,
are all brought together. See other works by this author available
from Kessinger Publishing.
