The articles in this volume were written to commemorate Reinhold
Remmert's 60th birthday in June, 1990. They are surveys, meant to
facilitate access to some of the many aspects of the theory of
complex manifolds, and demonstrate the interplay between complex
analysis and many other branches of mathematics, algebraic
geometry, differential topology, representations of Lie groups, and
mathematical physics being only the most obvious of these branches.
Each of these articles should serve not only to describe the
particular circle of ideas in complex analysis with which it deals
but also as a guide to the many mathematical ideas related to its
theme.
The Queen's Treasure is the first young adult book in a six-part
Hawaiian Adventure Series of eight-year old Lucy Tuppins and her
discoveries in the Sandwich Islands in 1828. The daughter of a
missionary, her adventures take her through a paradise of lava
tunnels, tropical jungles, and an encounter with the secret
Menehune people while she stumbles upon the most unlikely clues to
a thief's identity. She wants to explore the villages and valleys,
but her father keeps Lucy tightly supervised and away from the
Islanders. Little does he know that while he is busy destroying the
fields and forests to make way for his new mission buildings, Lucy
and her two friends, Eugene and Oliver, are in real danger as they
attempt to help the Hawaiians bring balance back to the island and
expose the thief who stole the Queen of England's jewels.
