The advances in drug delivery systems over recent years have resulted in a large number of novel delivery systems with the potential to revolutionize the treatment and prevention of diseases. Bio-Targets and Drug Delivery Approaches is an easy-to-read book for students, researchers and pharmaceutical scientists providing a comprehensive introduction to the principles of advanced drug delivery and targeting their current applications and potential future developments.
Advanced and Modern Approaches for Drug Delivery explores novel approaches currently used for drug delivery, including the must up-to-date techniques and technology. The approaches discussed allow pharmaceutical scientists to design effective drug delivery systems or devices for the management and treatment of numerous diseases and conditions. Detailed information on a wide variety of subjects, including dendrimers, lipid nanostructures, solid lipid nanoparticles, stimuli-responsive smart systems, self-assembled protein-drug nanoparticles, nanoconjugate formulations, nanofibers, iontophoretic systems, microneedle systems, ultra-sound triggered systems, targeted carrier-based intracellular delivery systems, resealed erythrocyte-based systems, 3 D-printing tool, site-specific monoclonal antibodies, and bio-inspired systems are all comprehensively discussed. With contributions from those in academia and industry, this book is an excellent reference for all those needing to understand drug delivery systems.
Polysaccharide Carriers for Drug Delivery presents the latest information on the selection of safe materials. Due to reported safety profiles on polysaccharides; they have been the natural choice for investigation. A wide variety of drug delivery and biomedical systems have been studied, however, the related information either concept-wise or application-oriented is scattered, therefore becoming difficult for readers and researchers to digest in a concise manner. This gathering of information will help readers easily comprehend the subject matter.
Functional Polysaccharides for Biomedical Applications examines the fundamentals and properties of these natural materials and their potential biomedical applications. With an emphasis on therapeutic and sensing applications, the book also reviews how polysaccharides can be modified for tissue engineering applications. Sections discuss the basics of polysaccharides, give an overview of the potential applications, look at novel materials and technologies for use in tissue regeneration and therapeutics, and detail current biomedical applications. With a strong focus on materials, engineering and applications, this book is a valuable resource for those with an interest in harnessing the biomedical potential of natural polymers.
Biopolymer-Based Composites: Drug Delivery and Biomedical Applications presents a comprehensive review on recent developments in biopolymer-based composites and their use in drug delivery and biomedical applications. The information contained in this book is critical for the more efficient use of composites, as detailed up-to-date information is a pre-requirement. The information provided brings cutting-edge developments to the attention of young investigators to encourage further advances in the field of bio-composite research. Currently, biopolymers are being investigated for the design of various drug delivery and biomedical devices due to their non-toxic, biodegradable and biocompatible nature. Mostly, biopolymer-based solid orals, gels, hydrogel beads, and transdermal matrices have been designed in order to control drug/protein release in simulated bio-fluids.
The coast changes gradually, by sequences of hydrodynamic, geomorphologic changes and catstrophic events. In order to understand this, the research work aimed to study long-term (30 years), short-term (10 years) and seasonal coastal changes utilizing satellite data. Three techniques, namely shoreline change rate calculation, newly proposed 'three-unit based coastal change study', and conventional beach profiling were followed here for 113.5 km long coastal stretch along Midnapur Balasore coast of eastern India. Interventions of human being, complex coastal geomorphology, astronomical and seasonal influences were corroborated with derived changes along uniformly spaced transects orthogonal to shoreline positions, and for seven'littoral cells', . Several statistical methods of Linear Regression, Regression coefficient, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE)estimations, were determined and cross- validated.
