Book Two of the Shirley Combs and Dr. Mary Watson series, THE
ILLUSTRIOUS CLIENT, shows us the private investigator and her
sidekick sharing an office, and introduces their receptionist, Lix.
They are hired to influence a young international pop star, Oceane
Charles, to pry her away from her older, richer, player of a
girlfriend. The cast is made up of people with various ethnicities
and backgrounds, and of course the job soon includes solving a
murder mystery. Along the way, Mary discovers her latent
lesbianism. Set in Portland, Oregon on a superyacht, in a hospital
VIP room, at Rose Festival, and other fun places.
Snappy little humorous snippets about and by animals. Okay...to be
honest...more than a few frustrated observations by this same
animal lover. Yes, indeed, there is a pile of parental advice to
these dogs and cats--which the creatures completely ignore. Then,
of course, the cats and dogs must butt in with their own opinions,
also spoken in haiku style. All delightfully decorated with animal
art by Roxanna Groves. This version has black & white
illustrations.
The world is in a big, fucking mess and I'm writing snotty haiku
about it: a mini-guide to everything that's wrong. Unemployment,
the economy, employment, corporations, bad bosses, inequality, crap
jobs, culture, foreign policy, revolution, the environment, Wall
Street, animal rights, the 1 percent...you name it, I skewer it.

Book One of the Shirley Combs and Dr. Mary Watson series, THE
HOUNDING, introduces the private investigator and her sidekick as
they meet each other, and Mary begins to chronicle the cases.
Shirley is hired to solve the murder of Priscilla Vandeleur, who is
hounded to her death by what she has felt cursed by her entire
life. A rich heiress, she leaves plenty of suspects. As Shirley
Combs investigates, Mary tags along and learns a few things. Set in
Portland, Oregon where the trees provide so much: beauty, lumber,
paper, fuel, and fodder for a murder mystery.
2nd edition. Snappy little humorous snippets about and by animals.
Okay...to be honest...more than a few frustrated observations by
the writer who doesn't know why pets do what they do. Yes, indeed,
there is a pile of parental advice to these dogs and cats--which
the creatures completely ignore. Then, of course, the cats and dogs
must butt in with their own opinions, also spoken in haiku style.
All delightfully decorated with animal art by Roxanna Groves. This
version has black & white illustrations.
SnarkyKu is a collection of senryu (haiku-style poems) providing
snarky commentary for every occasion. Called by reviewers "wasabi
for the soul," it has a 5-star rating in the digital version.
Feeling like snapping someone's head off? Do it with wit: quote a
snarkyKu.
