Problem gambling is a recognised mental disorder and a significant
public health issue internationally. A Clinician's Guide to Working
with Problem Gamblers introduces the reader to the concept of
problem gambling as an illness, it describes the current gambling
habits and explores the way problem gambling may present in an
individual. This guide is the product of a collaboration between
two of the country's most eminent experts on problem gambling as a
psychiatric disorder. Bowden-Jones and George bring together
contributions from leading clinicians working in the field to
provide an outline of the epidemiology, aetiology, research,
assessment procedures and treatment practices which are discussed
and presented in an accessible and engaging manner. The inclusion
of questionnaires and screening tools adds to the 'hands on' feel
of the book. The book covers a range of topics that clinicians and

Individual Statement Questions (ISQs) are a relatively recent
introduction to the MRCPsych examination. Although similar in some
respects to Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), they differ
significantly in their structure and answering technique. ISQs
attempt to test more precise and in-depth knowledge and to succeed,
practice is essential. Surprisingly, and much to the dismay of
candidates preparing for MRCPsych Part II examination, to our
knowledge, there are no revision guides currently available to help
them in their preparation for Basic Sciences ISQs. This unique,
user-friendly collection of 1001 ISQs (with answers and
explanations) will immensely benefit candidates with their
comprehensive exam preparation. This book also provides good
coverage of the various basic sciences topics prescribed in the
part II curriculum on which candidates can test their knowledge and
further consolidate their preparation for MRCPsych part II
examination. Besides trainees, this book will also potentially
benefit trainers and teachers who run examination revision courses
as a useful reference guide.
