A noted comics artist himself, Santiago Garcia follows the history
of the graphic novel from early nineteenth-century European
sequential art, through the development of newspaper strips in the
United States, to the development of the twentieth-century comic
book and its subsequent crisis. He considers the aesthetic and
entrepreneurial innovations that established the conditions for the
rise of the graphic novel all over the world. Garcia not only
treats the formal components of the art, but also examines the
cultural position of comics in various formats as a popular medium.
Typically associated with children, often viewed as unedifying and
even at times as a threat to moral character, comics art has come a
long way. With such examples from around the world as Spain,
France, Germany, and Japan, Garcia illustrates how the graphic
novel, with its increasingly global and aesthetically sophisticated
profile, represents a new model for graphic narrative production
that empowers authors and challenges longstanding social prejudices
against comics and what they can achieve.

Organizational management, along with strategy, is the most
important part of business administration. Directors must know how
to manage people, make decisions and, above all, have the ability
to create strategies that help organizations achieve their
objectives, greater strategic competitiveness, and above-average
returns. In today's global and complex environment, traditional
views towards organizational management are not enough for
businesses to thrive. It's only by bringing together different
approaches can management styles develop fast enough to keep pace
with the ever-changing big picture. In this innovative new look at
organizational management, expert authors Santiago Garcia-Alvarez
and Connie Atristain-Suarez explore how looking through lenses of
philosophy, health, communication, law, engineering, pedagogy and
policy can affect a modern organization's prospects. Built through
the collective and collaborative work of the research professors at
the Universidad Panamericana, this work includes interdisciplinary
approaches to real-world problems. For students and researchers of
business and management, this is an unmissable read.

SANTIAGO GARCIA and DAVID RUBIN unite to bring forward the myth of
Beowulf, which has endured for a thousand years, inspired an epic
poem, become a foundational piece of English literature, and
influenced generations of authors: from J.R.R. Tolkien and Seamus
Heaney to a multitude of Hollywood screenwriters. BEOWULF tells of
the tale of a Scandinavian hero in lands that would become what is
now Denmark and Sweden. A monster, Grendel, has arrived in the
kingdom of the Danes, devouring its men and women for over a decade
until Beowulf arrives to save them. GARCIA and RUBIN faithfully
follow the original story for a new version that is neither
revisionist nor postmodern, but captures the tone and important
details of the poem, translating its potent, epic resonance and
melancholy into a contemporary comic that isn't standard swords and
sorcery or heroic fantasy fare, but rather an ancient story with a
modern perspective that remains respectful of the source material.
Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly Dairy Farms presents an
innovative environmental proposal. While chiefly focusing on dairy
farms, the environmental solution it describes is applicable to the
entire livestock sector. The book is divided into five chapters,
the first of which addresses the carbon footprint of dairy farms.
Chapter two provides an overview of the animal production system,
focusing on the physiology of the ruminant stomach and the
greenhouse gases emitted by dairy cows. In turn, the third chapter
covers dairy farm systems, explaining both intensive and extensive
husbandry systems. The book's final two chapters present
the-state-of-art in CO2 capture, and describe a new and innovative
CO2-RFP strategy. Given its scope, the book will be of interest to
chemists, biologists, biotechnologists, and researchers active in
agriculture and food-related areas, as well as those working in the
food and dairy industry.
This book is a compilation of twenty essays prepared for the
occasion of the XIII Academic Conference of the Constitutional
Court of the Republic of Colombia, held in Bogota in January 2019.
Gathering some of the most prominent authors in constitutionalism
and legal theory, the chapters critically examine classical
debates, such as the role of judicial review in a democracy, the
enforcement of socio-economic rights, the doctrine of
unconstitutional amendments, the use of international and foreign
precedents by national Courts, and the theory of transitional
justice. The book opens a dialogue between philosophers and
empirical researchers, building bridges between 'Global North' and
'Global South' approaches to constitutionalism. As such, it is an
invitation to reengage with the classical debates on
constitutionalism whilst also providing fresh insights into the
future of this discipline.
Entwicklung Spaniens. Koln, den 28. Februar 1964 Prof. Dr. K.
