It's so dark underground, you can't see the animals who live down
there - but with the help of your 'magic' torch, you'll get to
explore their hidden homes. Run with the rabbit into its burrow.
Follow the mole through its tunnels. Swim with the beaver to its
lodge. Swoop with the kingfisher into its riverbank nest. You'll
even discover how the extraordinary cockchafer is born and grows up
entirely underground. This title is part of the My First Discovery
paperback series - a unique collection of beautifully illustrated
information books for children aged 4 to 7, with simple language to
aid learning and realistic artwork to inspire young minds. This
edition contains a paper torch at the back of the book, revealing
hidden secrets on the 4 darkened transparent pages and making the
story come alive - one detail at a time. With free access to a
brand new audio app, children can listen and read along at their
own pace, page by page.
The concept of 'mobility' has sparked lively academic debate in
recent years. Drawing on research from the fields of anthropology,
geography, sociology and tourism studies, this volume examines the
intersection between mobility and hospitality, highlighting the
issues that emerge as we encounter strangers in a mobile world.
Through a series of diverse empirical accounts, it focuses on the
transnational movement of people in the contexts of migration and
tourism and examines how hospitality serves as a way of promoting
and policing encounters, questioning how these relations are marked
by exclusion as well as inclusion, and by violence as well as by
kindness. In addition to exploring the power relations between
mobile populations (hosts and guests) and attitudes (hospitality
and hostility), the book also examines spaces of hospitality and
mobility, such as cities, hotels, clubs, cafes, spas, asylums,
restaurants, homes and homepages. In doing so, it makes a
significant contribution to the political and ethical dimensions of
mobile social relations.

Meet the animals who live in darkness underground, safe from other
animals who want to eat them.
Swifts live almost entirely in the air. They eat, drink, sleep,
mate and gather their nesting materials on the wing, fly thousands
of miles across the world, navigating their way around storms,
never lighting on tree, cliff or ground, until they return home
with the summer. Sarah Gibson has written a fascinating story of
discovery, exploring what is known about these mysterious birds,
their ancient ancestry and how they have been regarded through
history. But the swifts are in real danger: often unintentionally,
we are sealing our homes against wildlife of any kind. Cracks, gaps
and crevices which for thousands of years have offered nesting
space in buildings, are being closed off, while new housing rarely
offers entry holes for nesting birds. Loss of breeding places is
considered to be a significant factor in the steep decline of these
birds over the last twenty years. Thankfully, there are people in
the UK and across Europe striving to ensure a future for swifts.
Their actions and stories are woven into the narrative,
demonstrating how change is brought about by passionate, determined
individuals, whose actions show that everyone can do something to
keep these superb birds screaming through our skies.

Helping to create inclusive work environments for non-binary
people, this book builds knowledge of non-binary identities and
provides practical solutions to many of the basic workplace
problems this group face. Working with and including non-binary
people in the workplace is beneficial for both employer and
employee, as it attracts and retains younger and non-binary workers
by helping promote an inclusive brand, as well as satisfying
equality obligations. Based on novel research of non-binary
inclusion within businesses, it provides a basic overview of
non-binary people, a business case for inclusion, a brief
description of how non-binary people fit into current equality laws
and likely future developments in the area. An ideal introduction
for companies wishing to embrace all genders in the workplace.
