Few books exist that cover the hot field of second-generation
spintronic devices, despite their potential to revolutionize the IT
industry.Compiling the obstacles and progress of spin-controlled
devices into one source, Spintronic Materials and Technology
presents an in-depth examination of the most recent technological
spintronic developments.
Featuring contributions from active researchers and leading
experts, the book chronicles the main research challenges in
spintronics. It first depicts the different classes of materials
systems currently under investigation for use in spintronic
devices. The contributors also address issues concerning the
operation of spintronic devices, such as the new principle for
future devices that use spin-polarized current. This promises to
enable switching of individual spin components of the device while
avoiding crosstalk at the nanoscale. The book concludes with
descriptions of both Si and III-V semiconductor-based spin
transistors and the integration of spin technology with
photonics.
The second-generation spintronic devices discussed in Spintronic
Materials and Technology will not only improve the existing
capabilities of electronic transistors, but will enable future
computers to run faster and consume less power.
This book provides everyone associated with mixed use buildings
with clarity of information in understanding the key laws. It
includes a detailed overview of tenants' rights of first refusal
under the 1987 act and tenants' rights of collective
enfranchisement under the Leasehold Reform.
The popularity of mixed use buildings has highlighted the need to
understand the substantial impact of residential tenants' rights.
This book, by authors known for their practical expertise in this
highly specialized area, includes a detailed overview of tenants'
rights of first refusal under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987,
tenants' rights of collective enfranchisement under the Leasehold
Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 and tenants'
collective rights to manage under the Commonhold and Leasehold
Reform Act 2002. The authors not only provide the lawyer with
everything they need to know whether acting for tenant or landlord,
but also everyone associated with mixed use buildings will find the
detail and clarity of information in this book vital in
understanding the key laws and dealing in a straightforward manner
with the issues surrounding mixed use.
Flowcharts and copies of all the relevant legislation, plus a
detailed review of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 and other
important cases, provide a definitive and essential professional
guide.

Traditional histories of medieval art and architecture often
privilege the moment of a work's creation, yet surviving works
designated as "medieval" have long and expansive lives. Many have
extended prehistories emerging from their sites and contexts of
creation, and most have undergone a variety of interventions,
including adaptations and restorations, since coming into being.
The lives of these works have been further extended through
historiography, museum exhibitions, and digital media. Inspired by
the literary category of biography and the methods of longue duree
historians, the introduction and seventeen chapters of this volume
provide an extended meditation on the longevity of medieval works
of art and the aspect of time as a factor in shaping our
interpretations of them. While the metaphor of "lives" invokes
associations with the origin of the discipline of art history,
focus is shifted away from temporal constraints of a single human
lifespan or generation to consider the continued lives of medieval
works even into our present moment. Chapters on works from the
modern countries of Italy, France, England, Spain, and Germany are
drawn together here by the thematic threads of essence and
continuity, transformation, memory and oblivion, and restoration.
Together, they tell an object-oriented history of art and
architecture that is necessarily entangled with numerous
individuals and institutions.

The events at Pantheacon 2011 caused a storm that reverberated
across the planet, with discussion on many web sites and mailing
lists, and even a mention in the UK's Guardian newspaper. This book
was created in the hope of extending the debate and bringing it to
a wider audience. We have included articles from people in both
major camps, who have explained their positions powerfully and
sincerely. This book is not an easy read -- much of it will be
painful, and there is probably no one in the wider pagan community
who will not be offended by at least something in here. Articles
have been edited only for grammar and typography -- you will find
honest words, entirely uncensored. This, however, is the point of
the exercise. When nothing is said, nothing will be heard, and
nothing can change.
