Overcoming Drug Resistance in Gynecologic Cancers provides up-to-date information related to important gynecologic cancers and focuses on mechanisms of drug resistance, genetics, signaling, immunology, health disparities, nanotechnology, economic considerations and financial impacts. The book covers not only drug resistance but also important means to reverse resistance both in the laboratory and clinic. The book discusses topics such as lifestyle, nutrition and risk of gynecologic cancers, the financial impact of drug resistance, chemosensitizing agents and targeted therapies in cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancer, immunotherapy to overcome drug resistance, and genetic polymorphisms in gynecologic cancers. Additionally, it discusses ethnic and racial health disparity perspectives and future developments in chemosensitizing activities to reverse drug resistance in gynecologic cancers. It is a valuable resource for cancer researchers, oncologists, clinicians and other biomedical field members who are interested in new approaches to improve chemotherapy outcome in patients with gynecologic cancers.
Theranostics and Precision Medicine for the Management of Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Translational and Clinical Outcomes, Volume Three provides comprehensive information about ongoing research and clinical data on liver cancer. The book presents detailed descriptions about diagnostics and therapeutic options for easy understanding, with a focus on precision medicine approaches to improve treatment outcomes. This updated volume discusses topics such as clinical and safety assessment of HCC patients, liver transplantation as a therapeutic option, immunotherapy interventions, and image-based surveillance. In addition, it discusses immunohistology of HCC-enabled precision medicine and artificial intelligence for hepatocellular carcinomas. This is a valuable resource for cancer researchers, oncologists, graduate students, hepathologists and members of biomedical research who need to understand more about liver cancer to apply in their research work or clinical setting.
Theranostic Approach for Pancreatic Cancer modulates the biologic properties of stroma in pancreatic cancer by targeting the several chemotherapy resistance mechanisms to impede their malignant property through introducing new strategies and drugs for tackling the disease. It brings information about ongoing research as well as clinical data about pancreatic cancer and provides detailed descriptions about diagnostic and therapeutic options for easy understanding. The book discusses several topics related to pancreatic cancer, such as stem cells, drug resistance and pancreatic tumor microenvironment, the latest developments in chemotherapy for metastatic cancer and chemoprevention, and epigenome as a therapeutic strategy. Additionally, it encompasses a discussion on theranostic clinical applications for personalized treatment and management of pancreatic cancer. The book is a valuable resource for cancer researchers, oncologists, and several members of the biomedical field who need to understand more about the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.
This book is a guide for microbiologists and environmentalists in their incursions into the study of microbial genomes and their role in the degradation of harmful & carcinogenic compounds in the environment. It attempts to organize current affairs in biotechnology through a survey of current methods. During the last few decades environmental pollution control microbiology has become an important field of science due to continuous industrialization in both worlds. So it's a little effort in this rapid expanding field. Aniline is a carcinogenic compound and extensively used in taxtile industry for dying, causing serious threat to the environment with a danger to reach in the food chain as well as in water bodies. Its removal or degradation into harmless compounds is of supreme priority in such areas suffering from taxtile effluents and such. This work will serve as a guide line for the future studies concerning biological or microbial degradation of harmful or carcinogenic compounds like aniline.
The work reported here was based on investigations of neutrons and X-rays emitted from a Mather type plasma focus by varying charging voltage (capacitor energy/ discharged current) and employing different pre-ionization schemes to obtain high neutrons and photons emission. It was observed that the radiated energy strongly depends upon the filling pressure as well as on effectiveness of pre-ionization. There was a significant increase in the neutron emission, characteristics and total X-ray emission with pre-ionization caused by depleted uranium as compared to other pre-ionization schemes. Thus pre-ionization prior to pulse discharge plays an important role in the breakdown phase of the plasma focus operation, broadens pressure range for both neutron and X-ray emission and improves shot to shot reproducibility of the system. The results may be interesting for using a plasma focus as an enhanced neutron and X-ray emission source for different applications.
In the first chapter some basic notions and results from commutative algebra are being introduced. In the second chapter we present new results related to sequentially Cohen Macaulay, pretty clean and Stanley ideals. Let I be a monomial ideal of the poly- nomial ring S. We show that S=I is sequentially Cohen-Macaulay if and only if S=I is pretty clean. In particular, if S=I is sequentially Cohen- Macaulay then I is a Stanley ideal. Chapter 3 includes some results related to Stanley Conjecture. We define nice partition of the multicomplex associated to a Stanley ideal. In the main result we show that if the multicomplex associated to monomial ideal I has a nice partition then the multicomplex associated to polarized ideal Ip has a nice partition. Fourth and last chapter deals with the regularity of ideals of Borel type. We have proved that the regularity of monomial ideals whose associated prime ideals are totally ordered by inclusion is linearly bounded.
