A little boy meets a stranded alien child and the two instantly
strike up a fabulous friendship. They go to school, explore the
neighborhood, and have lots of fun all day. However, when bedtime
rolls around, the little boy must comfort his homesick new friend.
This funny, heartwarming story proves that friends and family are
the most important things in the universe . . . no matter who or
where you are.
For almost five million years, humans have been locked in a
relationship with morality, inventing and reinventing the concepts of
'Good' and 'Evil', and weaving them into our cities, laws and customs.
Morality is a concept that can feel joyless and claustrophobic,
associated with restraint and coercion, restriction and sacrifice,
inquisition, confession and a guilty conscience. For many, it is a
device used to shame us into compliance. This impression is not
necessarily incorrect, but it is most certainly incomplete.
Hanno Sauer traces humanity's fundamental moral transformations from
our earliest ancestors through to the present day, when it can often
seem that we have never disagreed more over what it means to be good,
and what it means to be right. But we can use our past as a basis for a
new understanding of our future. Our current political disagreements
may feel like the end of the world, but where will the evolution of
morality take us next?

Numerical Analysis, Second Edition, is a modern and readable text
for the undergraduate audience. This book covers not only the
standard topics but also some more advanced numerical methods being
used by computational scientists and engineers-topics such as
compression, forward and backward error analysis, and iterative
methods of solving equations-all while maintaining a level of
discussion appropriate for undergraduates. Each chapter contains a
Reality Check, which is an extended exploration of relevant
application areas that can launch individual or team projects.
MATLAB(r) is used throughout to demonstrate and implement numerical
methods. The Second Edition features many noteworthy improvements
based on feedback from users, such as new coverage of Cholesky
factorization, GMRES methods, and nonlinear PDEs.

chicken. Will she find the courage within herself to save a chick

occasional garden ornament. But when one of her mother's eggs rolls
out of the nest, this nervous chick must find the courage to save
the day and her new sibling! Perfect for any child who needs a
little encouragement to face the challenging world, this story
proves that sometimes a big hero is just a little chicken.
In an ever-changing working environment, customer and workplace
demands have brought new challenges to how we organize and manage
work. Increasingly, this is addressed by the idea of 'agility.'
From its beginning, agile work has claimed to be a radically
different approach which allows organisations to react flexibly to
changing environmental demands whilst also offering a 'people'
centered approach to management. While the literature often
examines agile instruments from a business perspective, this edited
collection advances the discussion of the efficacy of agile
working, by applying a more critical social science perspective. The
chapters scrutinize whether agility is just a discursive
imperative, or whether it is in fact a genuine organizational and
institutional strategy that is meant to better deal with complexity
and volatility. The answers to these questions can vary at
different levels, and the editors therefore examine agility at the
level of teams, organizations and societies. By assembling
different perspectives on the sustainability and virtue of agile
instruments, and by bringing together international scholars from a
variety of disciplines, the project stimulates a comparative
discussion.
John Milton lived at a time when English nationalism became
entangled with principles and policies of cultural, religious, and
ethnic tolerance. Combining political theory with close readings of
key texts, this study examines how Milton's polemical and
imaginative literature intersects with representations of English
Protestant nationhood. Through detailed case studies of Milton's
works, Elizabeth Sauer charts the fluctuating narrative of Milton's
literary engagements in relation to social, political, and
philosophical themes such as ecclesiology, exclusionism, Irish
alterity, natural law, disestablishment, geography, and
intermarriage. In so doing, Sauer shows the extent to which
nationhood and toleration can be subjected to literary and
historicist inquiry. Her study makes a salient contribution to
Milton studies and to scholarship on early modern literature and
the development of the early nation-state.
