General Principles of Commercial Law is a concise compendium written specifically for non-law students. Written by experienced commercial law lecturers in the Department of Mercantile Law at the University of South Africa, it has been a prescribed text for undergraduate non-law students at various South African tertiary institutions for the past 28 years. General Principles of Commercial Law provides students with a succinct exposition of the general principles of commercial law. It covers a wide range of topics influenced by the registration requirements of the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors. The ninth edition has been updated to reflect recent statutory and other developments in commercial law and includes:
Douglas Schulze directs this unconventional genre movie in which a group of horror fans get more than they bargained for when they find themselves immersed in their own nightmare. Russell (Taylor John Piedmonte) and Duane (Allen Maldonado) attend a horror convention where they listen to Alfonso Betz (Sid Haig) rail against the media presenting horror movies as an influence on real life murders. After the lecture, Russell and Duane meet Judith (Lauren Mae Shafer), an attractive fellow convention attendee who invites them to a party that night at an isolated farmhouse. Something bizarre happens at the party and Russell and Duane awake to find themselves under attack from hordes of zombies. As horror devotees, the pair are only too aware that their predicament eerily echoes the classic Romero movie 'Night of the Living Dead'. Will they be able to elude a traditional horror ending?

Germany is a central case for research on comparative political economy, which has inspired theorizing on national differences and historical trajectories. This book assesses Germany’s political economy after the end of the "social democratic" 20th century to rethink its dominant properties and create new opportunities for using the country as a powerful lens into the evolution of democratic capitalism. Documenting large-scale changes and new tensions in the welfare state, company strategies, interest intermediation, and macroeconomic governance, the volume makes the case for analysing contemporary Germany through the politics of imbalance rather than the long-standing paradigm of institutional stability. This conceptual reorientation around inequalities and disparities provides much-needed traction for clarifying the causal dynamics that govern ongoing processes of institutional recomposition. Delving into the politics of imbalance, the volume explicates the systemic properties of capitalism, multivalent policy feedback, and the organizational foundations of creative adjustment as key vantage points for understanding new forms of distributional conflict within and beyond Germany. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of German Politics.
This book, first published in 1984, brings together three essays written by specialists in German history of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries whose important work is little known to English-speaking historians. Peter Blickle argues for a strong connection between the theology of the Reformation and the ideologies of the social protest movements of the period. Hans-Christoph Rublack takes a wider theme of the political and social norms in urban communities in the Holy Roman Empire and emphasises the ideas of justice, peace and unity held within the community despite the upheavals of revolution and protest. Winfried Schulze provides a comparative assessment of early modern peasant resistance within the Holy Roman Empire.

The analysis and topology of elliptic operators on manifolds with singularities are much more complicated than in the smooth case and require completely new mathematical notions and theories. While there has recently been much progress in the field, many of these results have remained scattered in journals and preprints. Starting from an elementary level and finishing with the most recent results, this book gives a systematic exposition of both analytical and topological aspects of elliptic theory on manifolds with singularities. The presentation includes a review of the main techniques of the theory of elliptic equations, offers a comparative analysis of various approaches to differential equations on manifolds with singularities, and devotes considerable attention to applications of the theory. These include Sobolev problems, theorems of Atiyah-Bott-Lefschetz type, and proofs of index formulas for elliptic operators and problems on manifolds with singularities, including the authors' new solution to the index problem for manifolds with nonisolated singularities. A glossary, numerous illustrations, and many examples help readers master the subject. Clear exposition, up-to-date coverage, and accessibility-even at the advanced undergraduate level-lay the groundwork for continuing studies and further advances in the field.

This book provides the first comprehensive overview of theoretical issues, historical developments and current trends in ICALL (Intelligent Computer-Assisted Language Learning). It assumes a basic familiarity with Second Language Acquisition (SLA) theory and teaching, CALL and linguistics. It is of interest to upper undergraduate and/or graduate students who study CALL, SLA, language pedagogy, applied linguistics, computational linguistics or artificial intelligence as well as researchers with a background in any of these fields.

Keeping pace with explosive developments in the field, Colloidal Science of Flotation reviews and updates the fundamentals of the bubble-particle collection phenomenon using a self-consistent approach that helps readers understand the hydrodynamic aspects of bubble-particle collection. The authors examine bubble rise velocity, water velocity around air bubbles, the thinning of intervening liquid films, the stability of particle-bubble aggregates, and macroscopic processes in froth. They also survey the applicability of emerging technologies in industrial flotation deinking, wastewater treatment, flotation of plastics, and improvements in minerals and coal flotation.
The Swarthmore Lectureship was established by the Woodbrooke Extension Committee, at a meeting held December 7th 1907: the minutes of the Committee provided for "an annual lecture on some subject relating to the message and work of the Society of Friends". The Lectureship has a two-fold purpose: first, to interpret further to the members of the Society of Friends their Message and Mission; and, secondly, to bring before the public the spirit, the aims and the fundamental principles of the Friends. The Lectures have been delivered on the evening preceding the assembly of the Friends' Yearly Meeting in each year. The present Lecture was delivered at Friends House, London, on the evening preceding the Yearly Meeting, 1930.

This hugely successful global history of the twentieth century is written by four prominent international historians for first-year undergraduate level and upward. Using their thematic and regional expertise, the authors have produced an authoritative yet accessible and seamless account of the history of international relations in the last century, covering events in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas. They focus on the history of relations between states and on the broad ideological, economic and cultural forces that have influenced the evolution of international politics over the past one hundred years. The third edition is thoroughly updated throughout to take account of the most recent research and global developments, and includes a new chapter on the international history of human rights and its advocacy organizations, including NGOs. Additional new features include: New material on the Arab Spring, including specific focus on Libya and Syria Increased debate on the question of US decline and the rise of China. A timeline to give increased context to those studying the topic for the first time. A fully revised companion website including links to further resources and self-testing material can be found at www.routledge.com/cw/best Antony Best is Associate Professor in International History at the London School of Economics. This is a volume originating from the Conference on Partial Differential Equations and Applications, which was held in Moscow in November 2018 in memory of professor Boris Sternin and attracted more than a hundred participants from eighteen countries. The conference was mainly dedicated to partial differential equations on manifolds and their applications in mathematical physics, geometry, topology, and complex analysis. The volume contains selected contributions by leading experts in these fields and presents the current state of the art in several areas of PDE. It will be of interest to researchers and graduate students specializing in partial differential equations, mathematical physics, topology, geometry, and their applications. The readers will benefit from the interplay between these various areas of mathematics. |
