After taking home the 2007 Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, 30 ROCK returned for its sophomore season with an even sharper satirical tool set, skewering everything from reality television (hello, MILF ISLAND) to the suit & tie shenanigans of its own network. Set behind the scenes at THE GIRLIE SHOW, a fictional sketch comedy series, 30 ROCK follows show runner Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) as she contends with her program's flighty stars, Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) and Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski), and runs interference between network exec Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) and her own unruly writing staff. This season starts off as TGS returns from summer hiatus, and gets straight to the hilarious disasters; over the course of 15 episodes, Liz tries (and fails) to buy a condo, Jack has a scandalous love affair with a liberal, and Kenneth (Jack McBrayer), the excitable page, accidentally throws an alcohol-soaked rager. This collection contains every moment from the delightfully absurd and highly quotable 2007-2008 season, featuring guest appearances from Jerry Seinfeld, Edie Falco, and David Schwimmer.
Keira Knightley stars as a woman whose marriage vows are put to the test in this drama from first-time director Massy Tadjedin. Seeming to share an idyllic life with her husband, Michael (Sam Worthington), in Manhattan, writer Joanna (Knightley) fears the worst when he heads off on an overnight business trip with his seductive colleague, Laura (Eva Mendes). As Laura sets her sights on taking their relationship to a new level, Michael tries to resist temptation, unaware that, back home, Joanna has run into her former Gallic lover, Alex (Guillaume Canet).
Brooklyn-set comedy written, directed by and starring Desiree Akhavan. Shirin (Akhavan) is a woman in her twenties who has just broken up with her girlfriend Maxine (Rebecca Henderson) and still hides the truth about her sexuality from her conservative Iranian parents. Working as a film teacher to overprivileged five-year-olds, Shirin struggles to get over Maxine and seeks to achieve some semblance of a personal, professional and cultural balance in her life on her own terms. A goal not aided by her overachieving brother and his new and adored Persian fianceé who both happen to be highly successful in the field of medicine, much to her parents' delight.
Academy Award-winning animated comedy by Walt Disney Studios featuring the voice talents of Scott Adsit and Ryan Potter. 14-year-old robotics genius Hiro Hamada (Potter) spends his days being a typical teenager, getting into fights and struggling to cope with his changing body. When his older brother Tadashi (Daniel Henney) becomes concerned that his brother is wasting his potential, he takes him to the robotics lab at his university where he introduces him to Baymax (Adsit), an inflatable robot created and developed by Tadashi himself. Programmed to take care of humans, Baymax starts to work with Hiro and encourages him to focus on his invention of microbots. When Hiro and Baymax discover that someone has been copying his ideas and creating microbots of their own, the pair team up to find the masked assailant. The film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
