British thriller. Would-be writer Zakes (William Ash) is driving
home along the rain-drenched M1 motorway with his girlfriend Beth
(Christine Bottomley) asleep in the passenger seat beside him. When
a near-accident causes him to catch a fleeting glimpse into the
back of a white lorry just in front of him, he sees to his horror
that it contains a woman tied up and covered in blood. The couple
stop at the next service station, where Zakes, tired and shaken,
carries out his job of posting flyers in the toilets. When he comes
out he is horrified to discover that Beth has gone missing. Could
she be the next victim of the owner of the white lorry?
This book traces the life and work of one of our most unusual
artists. It's a surprising book because many of us know that Reid
has always had a strong desire to stay out of the limelight. This
is the first real look at her life and behind the scenes in her
art. Especially revealing are her thoughts from her journal and
letters to and from friends and curators that bring her artworks
and the artist so much closer to us. This book is rich with people
and memories and her captivating art.
A Place Between Thoughts is an essential and invaluable visual
resource of the artworks of Sheila Reid. Her large scale structures
and Installations correspond to texts by art critics and curators.
Also thoughts of the artist take you inside the creative mind and
give you a very original look at the artist's journey and
discoveries and how her artworks came into being. This book is a
beautiful history of her work to date.
