Collected Papers (English, German, French, Paperback, 2nd ed. 1990): Teiji Takagi Collected Papers (English, German, French, Paperback, 2nd ed. 1990)
Teiji Takagi; Edited by Shokichi Iyanaga, Kenkichi Iwasawa, Kunihiko Kodaira, Kosaku Yosida
R1,919 Discovery Miles 19 190 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Teiji Takagi one of the leading number theorists of this century, is most renowned as the founder of class field theory. This volume reflects the stages of his development of this theory. Inspired by a genial idea related to analytic number theory, he developed a beautiful general theory of abelian extensions of algebraic number fields which he addressed at the ICM 1920 at Strasbourg. This report ends with a problem to generalize the results to the case of normal, not necessarily abelian extensions. Up to now this problem has stimulated research. This second edition incorporates the whole contents of "The Collected Papers of Teiji Takagi" edited by S. Kuroda, published by Iwanami Shoten in 1974. Following additions have been made: Note on Eulerian squares (1946).- Concept of numbers.- K. Iwasawa: On arithmetical papers of Takagi.- K. Yosida: On analytical papers of Takagi.- S. Iyanaga: On life and works of Takagi.

Global Analysis - Papers in Honor of K. Kodaira (PMS-29) (Hardcover): Donald Clayton Spencer, Shokichi Iyanaga Global Analysis - Papers in Honor of K. Kodaira (PMS-29) (Hardcover)
Donald Clayton Spencer, Shokichi Iyanaga
R6,640 Discovery Miles 66 400 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Global analysis describes diverse yet interrelated research areas in analysis and algebraic geometry, particularly those in which Kunihiko Kodaira made his most outstanding contributions to mathematics. The eminent contributors to this volume, from Japan, the United States, and Europe, have prepared original research papers that illustrate the progress and direction of current research in complex variables and algebraic and differential geometry. The authors investigate, among other topics, complex manifolds, vector bundles, curved 4-dimensional space, and holomorphic mappings. Bibliographies facilitate further reading in the development of the various studies. Originally published in 1970. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.
