dreams that his mother is dying. The Great Sage discovers that the
lady in question is indeed at death's door, but decides to keep the
information from Tripitaka so as not to distract him from the
journey to India.

to be liked dresses up as a puppy dog, but only succeeds in
becoming more terrifying. Tripitaka attempts to help by ordering
his disciples to befriend the creature.
