Seit 1983 in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland zum ersten Mal Kirchenasyl gewahrt wurde, hat sich daraus ein zentraler Konflikt zwischen Kirche und Staat entwickelt. Das Phanomen, dass Auslander aus Angst vor Abschiebung in ein Gotteshaus fluchten, loste eine politisch-gesellschaftliche wie wissenschaftliche Kontroverse uber seine Legalitat und Legitimitat aus: Ist Kirchenasyl unbotmassiger Rechtsbruch oder legitimes Korrektiv gegenuber humanitaren Defiziten des Asyl- und Auslanderrechts? Diese Studie ist die erste umfassende Untersuchung, die Theorie und Praxis des Kirchenasyls in Deutschland aus politikwissenschaftlicher Perspektive beleuchtet: Analysiert werden der konkrete Ablauf und die daraus resultierenden Konflikte, die offentliche Kontroverse sowie die damit einhergehenden politiktheoretischen und verfassungsrechtlichen Problemlagen.

This study discusses the emergence of 'Israeli realism' in the theatre in terms of the confrontation with Judaic traditions of art criticism and the thematization of history. In line with the 'dramatic' perception of reality prevalent in Israeli theatre, history is viewed as an impulse that furthers an engagement with the phenomenon of drama and the theatre. With reference to three major themes (war of independence, role of women, Holocaust) and the work of Joshua Sobol (*1939), the author shows how the treatment of history on the stage contributes to a 'deconstruction' of the Zionist myth.
