In recent years, major results were reported on Brain-Computer Interface / Brain-Machine Interface (BCI/BMI) applied to rehabilitation in scientific reports and papers. This subject received much attention within the Society on Communication, Navigation, Sensing and Services (CONASENSE) during the period 2013-2015. Describing the state of the art on various BCI/BMI activities related to neuro-rehabilitation is the central theme of this book. The latest insights coming from neurophysiologists, neuropsychologists, ICT experts specialized in clinical data management and from representatives of patient organizations are elucidated and new ways for "BCI/BMI applied to rehabilitation" using advanced ICT are introduced. We moved from the UTRA standard capable to transmit 0. 5bit/s/Hz to WLAN which is promising 2. 7bit/s/Hz. Now wireless c- munication systems are facing a ?ourishing of new proposal moving from multiple antennas at transmitter and receiver side (MIMO systems), to new powerfulForwardErrorCorrectionCodes, toadaptiveradioresourcemana- mentalgorithms. Thenewchallenge, however, isthemovetowardsmultimedia communications and IP technology. This move implies e?orts in several new aspects. First of all an open network, as IP is, imposes the necessity of a - cure network, to guarantee the privacy of the ongoing communications, avoid the use of the networks by unauthorized customers, avoid the misuses and the charge to third parties of the cost of the connection. Also, quality of service (QoS) of the communications is becoming a must in IP networks which are carrying services which need a guaranteed QoS as telephony, real time s- vices, etc. To get this new target some form of access control to the network must be setup. Recently, new form of communication networks has appeared to collect data for several applications (sensor networks, ad hoc networks, etc. ) and they need a connection with a backbone network which could be a wireless one with a larger range than the sensor or ad hoc networ

Multimedia Communications is at the core of the advanced interactive services that make up today's Information Society. Videoconferencing, teleworking, teleshopping and video-on-demand will benefit from developments in broadband and mobile telecommunication systems, intelligent multimedia terminals and digital signal processing. Broadband Wireless Access is a highly challenging and fast changing area of multimedia radio communications. These papers on the subject are the proceedings of the 9th Tyrrhenian Workshop, held in Lerici, Italy, September 1997. They provide a prospect on the state of the art and future development, with a sufficiently wide focus to cover technological, architectural and regulatory issues. Emphasis is given to those advances of digital signal processing techniques, microwave mono lithic integrated circuits and smart antennae that will allow the design of low cost user terminals with advanced capabilities.
