Compelling poems that celebrate language as it encounters the nameless variety of the natural world, from Australia to Italy An uncanny blend of the external and the intimate has been a hallmark of Simon West’s poetry for nearly twenty years. In this new collection, the Australian poet and Italianist delights in the transforming and endlessly varied powers of naming and speaking. West’s intensely regional focus stands in dialogue with Europe and antiquity. Landscapes reveal the tangle of their historical dimensions, as the rivers of both the Goulburn Valley in southeastern Australia and the Po Valley in northern Italy merge and flow into the wider currents of the Southern Ocean. Again and again, language and the senses throw themselves into the nameless riot of the world, from eucalypts and clouds to a medieval bell tower and the sounds a pencil makes as it crosses a page.
A double bill of action blockbusters. In 'The Expendables' (2010), an ensemble cast of action stalwarts including Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, Terry Crews and Mickey Rourke join forces to bring down a South American dictator. The film also boasts cameo appearances from Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis, and sees Stallone and Schwarzenegger sharing a screen for the first time ever. In the sequel 'The Expendables 2' (2012), Willis, Stallone and Statham reprise their roles, as Mr Church (Willis) reunites the formidable Expendables team, plus new member Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth), for what should be a straightforward job. But when one of their number is murdered by adversary Jean Vilain (Jean-Claude Van Damme), the team's quest for revenge finds them pitted against an unexpected rival.
Double bill of action films starring Jason Statham. In 'The Mechanic' (2011), after his best friend and mentor Harry (Donald Sutherland) is murdered, professional hitman Arthur 'The Mechanic' Bishop (Statham) sets out to wreak his revenge on those responsible. When Harry's son Steve (Ben Foster) asks if Arthur will take him on as an apprentice, the two look set to become the deadliest duo in town. However, complications soon arise as the young student starts to outstrip his master. In 'Mechanic - Resurrection' (2016), after retiring as a contract killer, Bishop attempts to put his murderous past behind him by starting a new life in Brazil with girlfriend Gina (Jessica Alba). However, when Gina is kidnapped by a formidable enemy, Bishop is ordered to carry out three seemingly impossible assassinations on very high profile targets if he wants to see her alive again. Facing a race against time, Bishop must do all he can to complete his objectives before it's too late.

Guido Cavalcanti is a key figure in the early development of Italian poetry along with his younger friend Dante Alighieri. Cavalcanti is also essential to the course of modernist poetry in English, influencing among others Ezra Pound and Louis Zukofsky. 'The Selected Poetry of Guido Cavalcanti: A Critical English Edition' provides the best introduction in English to this medieval Italian poet. The selection of annotated verse translations includes the famous 'Donna me prega' and the correspondence sonnets to Dante. 'Simply the best translations of Cavalcanti I have ever seen. [...] A considerable contribution to our understanding of Duecento Italian literature.' Robin Kirkpatrick, Professor of Italian and English, University of Cambridge, and translator of Dante, The Divine Comedy.
Jason Statham and Michael Angarano star in this action drama from director Simon West. Gambling addict Nick Wild (Statham) works as a bodyguard for millionaire Cyrus Kinnick (Angarano) while he is in Las Vegas. After helping his friend Holly (Dominik Garcia-Lorido) get revenge on Danny DeMarco (Milo Ventimiglia), the gangster who raped her, Nick finds himself wanted by the Mob. Can he make it out of Las Vegas alive? The cast also includes Stanley Tucci, Hope Davis, Sofía Vergara, Jason Alexander and Anne Heche.
