Segun la tradicion, Sofocles aprendio su arte de manos de Esquilo, pero altero la arquitectura del genero descargando al coro de su estatismo. Su perfeccion literaria y habil empleo de la ironia han dado a sus obras un gran puesto en el teatro clasico.
