Talli, Daughter of The Moon is an incredibly epic adventure from
French-Laotian cartoonist Sourya that evokes the best of manga and
bandes dessinees in one sweeping narrative. Talli is a Summoner: a
nearly extinct people, hunted by those who fear their mysterious
powers. As a baby, she was adopted by Lord Koska, and all was well
for many years... But one day, their castle is sacked by Koska's
rival, Lord Ulric. Talli escapes in the chaos and darkness with the
help of the noble (some might say too noble) knight Sir Alan. With
Ulric's forces hot on her heels, Talli and Alan keep one step
ahead, gathering a motley crew of companions and protectors that
includes the lethargic-but-incredible swordsman Lelo. Ulric's
Captain Nina pursues them doggedly, but she is unaware of the
secret of Talli's blood: the secret of the Summoners!
The book explains how to emerge and grow as a supply chain leader
and details supply chain and procurement processes and operational
activities in real-work scenarios across multiple supply chain
verticals. The book defines what an entry-level supply chain
professional must do to excel in various types of supply chain
verticals such as IT, electronics manufacturing, pharmaceutical,
retail, and consumer goods. Apart from helping professionals
understand vertical specific nuances, this book helps them to set
both short-term goals for annual performance review and longer-term
career planning. In addition, for a mid- or senior-level supply
chain professional, the book offers ideas on ways to launch
initiatives and demonstrate leadership to foster career growth. It
offers ideas about unlocking new values for the organization and
creating a data-driven decision support platform to gain financial
efficiency for better management of CapEx and OpEx spend, thus
improving the bottom line. The book includes a tool kit which
includes operational data models, financial models, and
presentation templates for creating and socializing proposals
intended for cross-functional teams and demonstrating supply chain
leadership. The book is divided into four major parts. In Part I,
the book starts with an overview of key concepts in a manufacturing
supply chain and procurement organization. It describes current
forms of modern global supply chain and corporate procurement
organizations. The objective of Part II is to provide a framework
for a self-directed supply chain manager to understand how a large
organization evaluates the contribution of supply chain managers
and where it expects them to create value. To foster career growth
as a supply chain professional, the book identifies six key
knowledge pillars for demonstrating supply chain mastery: Technical
and market knowledge of the end product and its constituents.
Knowledge of internal product development and sustaining processes
and supporting consumption data. Health and market condition of the
supplier. Ability to create value. Ability to build internal and
external executive relationships with key influencers. Ability to
obtain best cost without compromising on quality and lead time.
Negotiating cost, sourcing material, and then the logistics of
moving the raw material through multiple stages and finally
finished materials across the globe are some of the key areas which
need continuous improvement. As a sentinel of efficiency, removing
any kind of wastage leads to immediate value creation and
contributes to the margin by improving the bottom line. In Part
III, the book reviews twelve such verticals namely printer,
medical, IT, energy, automotive, cloud, dairy, data management,
avionics, biotech, apparel and start up and the supply chain
nuances through the lenses of the framework created in Part II. In
Part IV, the book goes back to focus on the professional growth of
an individual supply chain person in an industry agnostic way. It
provides examples of financial and operational efficiencies that a
supply chain professional can create.
Two crucial components of a healthy life are nutrition and
exercise. The importance of appropriate diet, food and nutrition
are extremely important to be successful in sports, and,
especially, in extreme sports. Extreme sport is an activity where a
participant must demonstrate both mental and physical skills. This
type of activity provides an adrenaline rush to individuals who are
part of the "community of extreme sportsmen." Extreme sports
provide opportunity for individuals to be active and fit with added
enjoyment of partaking in a fun activity. Extreme sports in
conjunction with proper nutrition helps to boost immunity and
resistance against common infections. Studies have also exhibited
that sports and exercise activities help in managing effective
work-life balance as well. Extreme and Rare Sports: Performance
Demands, Drivers, Functional Foods, and Nutrition provides a
comprehensive treatise on extreme sports emphasizing the importance
of nutrition and research-driven nutraceutical supplements in
injury prevention and treatment. The book presents information on
the nutritional requirements of sports activities on land, in
water, or with high altitude-base. It covers a wide variety of
definitions, philosophies, thoughts and practices involved with
structurally diverse extreme sports. Features: Discusses specific
food and nutritional requirements in extreme sports Provides
information on the importance of functional foods, nutrition and
structurally diverse phytonutrients for different sports Features
information on Olympic and diverse extreme sports Details the
importance of hydration and use of gelatin; skeletal muscle damage
and recovery from eccentric contractions; and information on
dietary supplements and antioxidants Presents analysis on growth,
marketing, techniques, and future of extreme sports
Privacy Risk Analysis fills a gap in the existing literature by
providing an introduction to the basic notions, requirements, and
main steps of conducting a privacy risk analysis. The deployment of
new information technologies can lead to significant privacy risks
and a privacy impact assessment should be conducted before
designing a product or system that processes personal data.
However, if existing privacy impact assessment frameworks and
guidelines provide a good deal of details on organizational aspects
(including budget allocation, resource allocation, stakeholder
consultation, etc.), they are much vaguer on the technical part, in
particular on the actual risk assessment task. For privacy impact
assessments to keep up their promises and really play a decisive
role in enhancing privacy protection, they should be more precise
with regard to these technical aspects. This book is an excellent
resource for anyone developing and/or currently running a risk
analysis as it defines the notions of personal data, stakeholders,
risk sources, feared events, and privacy harms all while showing
how these notions are used in the risk analysis process. It
includes a running smart grids example to illustrate all the
notions discussed in the book.

The social benefit derived from Online Social Networks (OSNs) can
lure users to reveal unprecedented volumes of personal data to an
online audience that is much less trustworthy than their offline
social circle. Even if a user hides his personal data from some
users and shares with others, privacy settings of OSNs may be
bypassed, thus leading to various privacy harms such as identity
theft, stalking, or discrimination. Therefore, users need to be
assisted in understanding the privacy risks of their OSN profiles
as well as managing their privacy settings so as to keep such risks
in check, while still deriving the benefits of social network
participation. This book presents to its readers how privacy risk
analysis concepts such as privacy harms and risk sources can be
used to develop mechanisms for privacy scoring of user profiles and
for supporting users in privacy settings management in the context
of OSNs. Privacy scoring helps detect and minimize the risks due to
the dissemination and use of personal data. The book also discusses
many open problems in this area to encourage further research.
