Sandy Hook Elementary- we can relate When our neighbors lost family members including parents to premature deaths due to things such as car accidents and cancers- we relied of one another to struggle through. The writers and real people in this book either lived the nightmare and came out on the other side of the dark tunnel or are the heirs of those individuals. We hope our stories help those hurt by a lone gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary. A majority the proceeds from the sale of this anthology will go to mental health institutions that address grief factors especially in children- our next generations of hope Most of the contributors to this book know 'first hand' that it is possible to survive after tragedies; we pray this book lifts your spirits and shows you the possibilities in your future.
What does it feel like to be twice orphaned and only 10 years old? Co-author: After I inherited my niece, one day, Stacey's counselor told me that it could take three to five years to pull her through the grieving process. My reaction was, "God save me " When at wit's end, HE was my only hope. I learned to use all the subtle hints HE provided to answer my current questions. Early in her grieving, Stacey acted out her anger. Most children can't express pain in words, so they demonstrate it. I learned that from my grief counselor and her. Stacey shared her suffering with us in the following manner. She scratched, tripped, and irritated her new family. In rage, she challenged my discipline and requirements for self-control. Many times, I thought, "Helen Keller" instead of Stacey because the girl's bitterness and anguish blinded her to an out reached hand. She grabbed the appendage clawing it. She appeared as a trapped, wild animal. Her grief appeared that deep That is how I describe the initial years after I inherited this young relative due to her parents' deaths and abandonment. WOULD I SALVAGE THE 10 YEAR OLD GIRL'S LIFE? Curious? Read the book. Told through Stacey's eyes, this narrative is the true life memoirs of a child that lost two sets of parents before landing in her aunt's home at age ten. This story is an uplifting tale of how she survived losing one parent to cancer, suicide, immaturity, and other causes. It is full of minor miracles and inspirational ideas. Through this joint effort book, Stacey's aunt or co-author encouraged the child to express her past in order to help herself as well as others going through similar life transitions.
