In the 1940s a pilot (Mel Gibson), overcome with grief when his girlfriend goes into a coma, agrees to be cryogenically frozen in an experiment. He is forgotten about however, and is only woken by chance in 1992, where he has to struggle to adjust to a radically different world, while staying one step ahead of the army in his search for his former lover.

When a man is eaten alive by a mysterious creature in the beautiful Lake Placid area of New England, New York scientist Kelly Scott (Bridget Fonda) arrives to investigate and, examining the evidence, soon confirms that the creature is a giant crocodile. Teaming up with local game warden Jack Wells (Bill Pullman) she uses state-of-the-art equipment to attempt to track down and capture the huge beast. But when they finally encounter their prey, it seems determined to give them a run for their money.

Jessica Simpson stars in this comedy as Megan Valentine, an out of work bubblegum actress who is having trouble persuading a film studio that she is the perfect choice to star in its new heavyweight military-themed film. In an attempt to prove her worth and impress the film's producer, Megan decides to enlist in the army. Will she get the role she is so desperate for?
