In the last few decades, our increased knowledge of the mechanisms
involved in wound repair has stimulated the development of many new
dressings and wound management techniques. If these are to be used
in the most appropriate and cost-effective manner, practitioners
must have a good understanding of the properties and key functions
of the products concerned. This book has been produced to offer
specific guidance in this important area, containing chapters on
silver dressings, honey products, medical maggots and negative
pressure therapy in addition to more conventional products
including hydrocolloids, foam, films and fibrous dressings made
from alginate or CMC. Each chapter contains an account of the
historical development, structure and method of use of the
individual treatments, and all of this information is supplemented
by the results an extensive review of the clinical literature for
each product group. A final chapter offers some simple observations
on the principles of dressing selection by making reference to a
variety of different wound types. This section also illustrates how
the use of an incorrect treatment may cause significant problems to
the patient and their carers. The book contains 720 pages and 125
illustrations, many in full colour, making it perhaps the most
comprehensive source of reference of its type currently available.
"Airport Interiors" provides essential background into the
development of the airport business and the design of its interior
spaces, whether it is through the masterplanning of circulation
spaces or interior finishes. The book explains how the global
airport market developed and why; who the main architectural
influences are; and how interiors have made a commercial difference
to how airports are regarded by their operators. The book also
explains the financial effects of post 9/11 on today's airports in
the USA, Europe and the Far East, and why airport operators are
looking to the internal spaces as their greatest business asset.
Lusciously illustrated "Airport Interiors" is highly attractive to
anyone interested in design.
As many social inequalities widen, this is a crucial survey of
local authorities' evolving role in health, social care and
wellbeing. Health and social and public policy experts review
structural changes in provision and procurement, and explore social
determinants of health including intergenerational needs and
housing. With detailed assessments of regional disparities and case
studies of effective strategies and interventions from local
authorities, this collaborative study addresses complex issues
(Wicked Issues), considers where responsibility for wellbeing lies
and points the way to future policy-making. The Centre for
Partnering (CfP) is a key outcome of this innovative review along
with Bonner's previous work Social Determinants of Health (2017).

As a young man piloting a small sailboat across the Pacific, Steve
Thomas developed a fascination with ancient methods of navigation.
He learned of a seafaring culture which, 6,000 years ago, used
arcane navigation arts to guide initiates unerringly across the
Pacific with no compasses, no charts. By the time of Christ, these
navigators had populated Oceania, nearly a quarter of the Earth's
surface. Thomas ventured to the tiny coral atolls of Micronesia in
search of these mysteries, this ancient language of the sea. There
he found the last navigator, Mau Piailug. One of the few surviving
palu, he belongs to a dying breed who used only natural signs -
stars, waves, birds - to guide their sailing canoes across
thousands of miles of open ocean. Thomas and Piailug voyage
together on the frail ship of human memory in an attempt to
preserve for future generations an ancient, mysterious, and
beautiful kinship with the sea before it is lost forever. Theirs is
an unforgettable journey.

Structured Query Language, or SQL, can be daunting to learn. There
are many books available that purport to ramp the user up from mere
mortal to godlike status. This book is not one of them. Having
written and taught SQL lessons to many groups ranging from support
to developers, it eventually dawned on me that all too often I was
presuming a "base" knowledge of SQL and databases and I was losing
the room from the first slide. I needed to back up and explain more
about why users would want to combine tables and why data was not
just put in one single table. From there we could move on to how to
combine tables to get answers. It was good to see lights come on in
people's eyes. This book is a distillation of those lessons.
Finally, the information you've been waiting for: who really killed
JonBenet?
Perhaps the most compelling murder case of our day, the death of
six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey galvanized the nation-and years after
it occurred, the mystery still endures. Who killed the young beauty
queen and why? Who is covering up for whom and who is simply lying?
In "JonBenet, "the most authoritative and comprehensive study of
the Ramsey murder, a former lead Boulder Police detective, Steve
Thomas, explores the case in vivid and fascinating detail-pointing
the way toward an analysis of the evidence some deem too shocking
to consider. Here, Thomas raises these and many other provocative
questions:
-How was the investigation botched from the beginning-and why did
police so carelessly allow the crime scene to be tampered with?
-Why were John and Patsy Ramsey protected from early questioning
and any lie-detector tests, even though their stories and behavior
were erratic, suspicious and inconsistent?
-Why was crucial evidence ignored, why were certain key witnesses
unquestioned by detectives, and why were the Ramseys privy to
sensitive information about the case and even police reports?
