In Ministry in Three Dimensions, Steven Croft outlines the
challenges - greater geographical and social mobility, and older,
smaller congregations, for example - that today's society presents
to the churches, explaining that models of mission and ministry
which were once perfectly adequate no longer work in this new
situation. The author identifies some of the potentially harmful
ways in which attempts have been made to meet these new challenges,
suggesting the use of secular management models as one such false
trail. Far better and more fruitful is to recover a
biblically-based understanding of ministry. In scripture and
through Church history he explores the dimensions of ministry
indicated by three different Greek words found in the New
Testament: diakonia, presbyteros and episcope, uncovering the rich
tradition surrounding what it means to be an ordained leader in the
Church. Steven Croft draws out insights from which a new, relevant
understanding of ordained ministry can be built across the
denominations, and explores how to put these insights into
practice, suggesting ways in which each minister can balance the
three dimensions in their own setting.

Reflections on the Psalms provides insightful commentary on each of
the Psalms from the same experienced team of writers that have made
Reflections for Daily Prayer so popular. It offers inspiring and
undated reflections on all 150 psalms, with longer psalms split
into parts in accordance with the Lectionary. Each reflection is
accompanied by its corresponding Psalm refrain and prayer from the
Common Worship Psalter, making this a valuable resource for
personal or devotional use. Specially written introductions by
Paula Gooder and Steven Croft explore the Psalms and the Bible and
the Psalms in the life of the Church.

Regular favourites and new contributors offer insightful, informed

based on the Common Worship Lectionary for Morning Prayer. In
addition, Paula Gooder, one of the most outstanding biblical
scholars writing today, provides the meditations for Holy Week. New
voices this year include Sharon Prentis, Dean of Ministry at St
Mellitus College and previously Dean of Black and Minority Ethnic
Affairs for the Church of England in Birmingham, and Luigi Gioia,

Wisdom of St Benedict recently won first prize in the spiritualty
category of the 2021 CMA book awards. For every day (excluding
Sundays) of the 2022-23 church year, there are full references and

Pilgrim is a major new teaching and discipleship resource from the
Church of England. It will help enquirers and new Christians
explore what it means to travel through life with Jesus Christ. A
Christian course for the twenty-first century, Pilgrim offers an
approach of participation, not persuasion. Enquirers are encouraged
to practice the ancient disciplines of biblical reflection and
prayer, exploring key texts that have helped people since the
earliest days of the Christian faith. Believing that the Christian
faith is primarily about relationship, Pilgrim aims to lay a
foundation for a lifetime of learning more about God's love
revealed in Jesus Christ and what it means to be his disciple.
Assuming little or no knowledge of the Christian faith, Pilgrim can
be used at any point on the journey of discipleship and by every
tradition in the Church of England. Pilgrim is made up of two
parts: Follow and Grow. Each consists of four short courses and a
leaders' guide. Follow introduces the Christian faith for complete
beginners, while Grow aims to develop a deeper level of
discipleship in those who have turned to Christ. Each short course
contains six-sessions, supported by online audio-visual resources.
All sessions combine a simple framework prayer, reflection on the
Bible in the lectio divina style, an article by a modern writer,
and time for questions and reflection. The first book in the Follow
Stage, Turning to Christ, explores the questions candidates are
asked when they decide to become followers of Jesus.
Each book in this established series contains the full and complete
text, and is designed to motivate and encourage students who may be
writing on these challenging writers for the first time. It
contains useful notes to add depth and knowledge to students'
understanding, comments to explain literacy and historical
allusions, tasks to help students explore themes and issues, and
suggestions for further reading.
