In late 1945, American military planners began to develop strategies to deal with the frightening possibility of a war with the Soviet Union when it becaeme clear that the Soviet Union was an aggressive power that sought to exercise its power. This is a comprehensive study of the major changes in infantry tacticts from the time of Frederick the Great to the beginning of what many see as the era of modern war, in the 1860s.
