Set in an alternate reality, the show follows costumed police officer Angela Abar aka Sister Night (Regina King) as she investigates the murder of her boss, Chief of Tulsa Police Judd Crawford (Don Johnson), and in the process uncovers a vast conspiracy involving white supremacist group the Seventh Kavalry and her own family. Finally, in 'The Night Of' (2016) New York student Naz (Riz Ahmed) embarks on a wild night out with a mysterious woman after picking her up in his dad's cab. The next morning he finds her stabbed to death in his bed. With no recollection of the previous night's events, Naz flees the scene but is quickly brought in by the city's police and identified as the main suspect for the victim's murder.

After he is denied a legal representative, defence lawyer John Stone (John Turturro) steps in to help Naz prove his innocence. As he awaits prosecution on Rikers Island, Naz adapts to the politics of life on the inside while his legal team try to piece together what happened on the night of the crime. Harrison Ford reprises his role as CIA Agent Jack Ryan in this adaptation of Tom Clancy's novel. When his mentor Admiral James Greer (James Earl Jones) becomes gravely ill, Ryan is appointed acting CIA Deputy Director of Intelligence. His first assignment: to investigate the murder of one of the President's friends, a prominent US businessman with secret ties to Colombian drug cartels.
