Blind from birth, Tonya Elliot's moment in paradise is shattered when she's attacked on the beach while on a research trip in Hawaii. She manages to fight off the unseen attacker, but not before he kills her guide dog, Rebel. Twenty-six-year old Larry Scott, a policeman from Illinois, hears her screams and runs to assist.

Scott becomes involved as local law enforcement begins to investigate. Authorities soon discover that the attack on Tonya may not be an isolated incident but may be related to other assaults and murders of petite, red-headed young women across the country.
