The basics of the theory of elliptic curves should be known to everybody, be he (or she) a mathematician or a computer scientist. Especially everybody concerned with cryptography should know the elements of this theory. The purpose of the present textbook is to give an elementary introduction to elliptic curves. Since this branch of number theory is particularly accessible to computer-assisted calculations, the authors make use of it by approaching the theory under a computational point of view. Specifically, the computer-algebra package SIMATH can be applied on several occasions. However, the book can be read also by those not interested in any computations. Of course, the theory of elliptic curves is very comprehensive and becomes correspondingly sophisticated. That is why the authors made a choice of the topics treated. Topics covered include the determination of torsion groups, computations regarding the Mordell-Weil group, height calculations, S-integral points. The contents is kept as elementary as possible. In this way it becomes obvious in which respect the book differs from the numerous textbooks on elliptic curves nowadays available.

Zwei Komiker unterhielten sich uber einen besonders einfaltigen Mann. Es drehte sich einige Zeit um dessen Dummheiten und Fehler, bis die Zwei zu dem Schluss kamen: "Das kann ja nur ein Osterreicher sein " Ich hatte mich bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt nicht als besonders patriotisch bezeichnet, noch habe ich mir je grosse Gedanken uber meine Staatszugehorigkeit gemacht. Aber in diesem Moment fuhlte ich mich plotzlich als Osterreicherin angegriffen. Ich war wutend, habe diese Geschichte viele Male erzahlt und mich daruber beklagt, dass wir OsterreicherInnen im Fernsehen als Idioten dargestellt werden. Ich fuhlte mich als Mitglied dieser Nation beleidigt und war bereit mich zu wehren. Vielen anderen Menschen in diesem Land geht es genauso und schlimmer, wenn sie zum Beispiel als Auslander beschimpft und benachteiligt werden. Aufgrund der anderen Muttersprache gehoren sie einer anderen Gruppe an und werden ausgestossen. Besonders in Schulen, wo viele verschiedene Ethnizitaten zusammentreffen und auf engem Raum miteinander arbeiten mussen, konnen dadurch Konflikte entstehen. Genau da setzt auch das Hauptbestreben dieser Arbeit an, namlich herauszufinden, wie aggressiv Schuler verbale Angriffe auf ihre Gruppenzugehorigkeit empfinden, bzw. ob es Unterschiede in den Einschatzungen gibt, wenn sie als Person beleidigt werden. Der Aufbau dieser Arbeit gliedert sich in einen Literaturteil (Kapitel 2) und einen empirischen Teil (Kapitel 3).
