Das Buch befasst sich mit dem Einsatz von Mietfahrzeugen im Tourismus. Dabei werden neben den Mietwagen als wichtigstem Verkehrsmittel auch das Caravaning, die Vermietung von Fahrradern und der Kraftradtourismus betrachtet. Die Autoren zeigen dazu sowohl wesentliche Definitionen und Abgrenzungen, gesetzliche Grundlagen und Verbande als auch Betrachtungen des Marktes und der Marktteilnehmer auf. In Kapitel 2 folgt eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Jugend, wozu zuerst allgemein Jugend und ihre Stellung in der Gesellschaft sowie eine Vertiefung des Verstandnisses, weshalb der Jugend in der Verkehrsplanung grosseres Gewicht eingeraumt werden sollte, erlautert wird. Schrittweise werden untersuchungsrelevante Aspekte eingegrenzt sowie zentrale Begriffe der Arbeit eingefuhrt. Anschliessend beschaftigt sich Kapitel 3 mit der Verkehrsmittelwahl als Forschungsfeld.
