Bhakti yoga is a spiritual path described in Hindu philosophy which
is intended to foster love, faith and surrender to God. It is a
means to realize God, and is the easiest way for the common person
because it doesn't involve extensive yogic practices. The Bhagavad
Gita, Bhagavata Purana and Puranas are important scriptures which
expound the philosophy of Bhakti. Hindu movements in which bhakti
is the main practice are called bhakti movements-the major schools
are Shaivism, Vaishnavism, and Shaktism. Chapters include: Chapter

Vivekananda was an important Indian teacher who came to this
country just over a century ago and taught Hindu meditation
practice and religious philosophy. Raja Yoga means the "discipline
of meditation practice," as opposed to Hatha Yoga, which means the
"discipline of physical stretching exercises." Raja Yoga is one of
the most well-known books by Vivekananda, who also wrote books on
Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Jnana Yoga. According to the author,
the goal of Raja Yoga is to concentrate the mind and to discover
the innermost recesses of our own mind. In order to obtain the
goal, practice is absolutely necessary. The appendix contains the
translation of the Patanjali Yoga Aphorisms.

a set of lectures by Swami Vivekananda on the subject of Karma
Yoga, one of the several yogic paths to enlightenment. Karma Yoga
is a mental discipline which allows one to carry out one's duties
as a service to the entire world, as a path to enlightenment. By
working in the real world, but giving up attachment to work, we can
obtain spiritual liberation. Vivekananda discusses the concept of
Karma in the Bhagavada-Gita, and singles out the Buddha as a
primary example of this form of yoga. Chapters include: Chapter I.
Karma In Its Effect On Character Chapter II. Each Is Great In His
Own Place Chapter III. The Secret of Work Chapter IV. What is Duty?
Chapter V. We Help Ourselves, Not the World Chapter VI.

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is widely regarded as the most
authoritative text on yoga. It comprises a collection of 196 Indian
sutras ("threads" - as sutra translates from Sanskrit) written
1,700 years ago. These threads or aphorisms were compiled by the
Indian sage Patanjali and offer guidelines for living a meaningful
and purposeful life. The book is organized into four parts and
provides descriptions of the eight limbs of yoga, such as pranayama
and asana. The translated text is presented alongside a clear and
insightful commentary by Swami Vivekananda, which makes them more
accessible to the modern reader and yoga practitioner. His message
of universal brotherhood and self-awakening remains relevant today,
especially in the current backdrop of widespread political turmoil
around the world.
This book is the definitive text on the transforming power of yoga.
Swami Vivekananda was recognized as an enlightened master with
great wisdom. The spiritual aspects of yoga are entirely covered,
along with the eight stages that are used, and the correct approach
to general and advanced meditation practices. Other subjects
include discipleship, reincarnation, concentration, and powers of
the mind. The first half of the book is a guidebook, while the
second half contains the Yoga Aphorisms of Patanjali. These sutras
are valued by yoga practitioners and others because of the great
wisdom they share. Was written from a practical perspective,
meaning the author has experienced these things and shares his
methods, rather than having researched and written it from an
academic view.
