As a professional organisation, EUROCALL has been aiming to promote
innovative research, development and practice in the area of
computer assisted language learning (CALL) and technology enhanced
language learning (TELL) in education and training. These
conference proceedings establish an overview of EUROCALL as it
celebrated its 20th anniversary.
The articles presented in this edited book illustrate the broad
diversity of Internet-based studies in an Irish context, as well as
the interdisciplinary which distinguishes much of its outputs. From
digital humanities in the strictest sense - through the creation
and use of digital objects and resources to a close examination of
digital texts, from ethical issues to societal issues - through the
lenses of gender or nationality, from empirical research to
practitioners reports, the chapters are a snapshot of Internet
research in Ireland. The contributors to this book come from many
third-level institutions on the island, thus illustrating a
geographical space linked to digital spaces.
This title presents the proceedings of the 2012 EUROCALL
Conference.
The idea behind this book was targeting young researchers, having
just completed, or nearly completed their Ph.D., with a research
focus on language learning by means of Internet technology and
web-based computer applications. The themes approached represent
topical areas of language learning and teaching, and technology
within collaborative, personal and virtual learning environments.
