Originally published in 1935, as the second edition of a 1919
original, this detailed and informative textbook consists of a
broad and expansive collection of examples which have been taken
from papers set for the courses of lectures at the Cambridge
Engineering Laboratory and from the A and B papers of the
Engineering Tripos. This second edition has been enlarged and
revised, and the questions, papers I to XL, have been arranged
under headings indicating the various parts of the subject. In
papers XLI to L, the questions are varied and of a general
character, catering for beginners in the subject as well as more
advanced students. Notably, answers to all of the set questions can
be found at the back. This dynamic book will be of considerable
value to anyone with an interest in thermodynamics, engineering and
physics as well as to anyone with an interest in the history of
education.
