After French reporter Elsa (Kruger) is taken hostage by insurgents working for Taliban leader Zaief (Raz Degan), a rescue team of commandos led by Kovax (Djimon Hounsou) is parachuted into enemy territory. All goes surprisingly well, with the team members managing to locate and free Elsa without many mishaps. But when their radio is subsequently destroyed in a firefight, they quickly find themselves in a desperate fight for survival, as they try to outrun their pursuers through the mountains of the Hindu Kush.
