The Texas Confederate Audited Claims, both Civil and Military, serve to identify and locate civilians and soldiers' families during the Civil War in Texas. There are items in both claim sets of particular interest to the genealogist, such as: powers of attorney, claims from probates, marriage and death records (or their statement), etc. The claims are presented in two parts: Guide to Audited Civil Claims and Guide to the Audited Military Claims. The records within each section are listed numerically by claim number, preceded by an index to names as an aid to researchers.
