Restoring Africa’s Spiritual Identity, authored by African Hidden Voices and inspired by the revelations of Inkosi Yomoya Imboni Dr. Uzwi-Lezwe Radebe, delivers a powerful critique of the spiritual displacement caused by colonialism and religious imposition. The book reveals how the forced introduction of foreign religions severed Africa’s access to the masculine energy—the upward spiritual dimensions—disconnecting the continent from its highest spiritual authority and divine guidance.
African Hidden Voices argues that African Indigenous Spirituality (AIS), once centered on direct knowledge through revelations, was systematically replaced by belief-based systems that undermined Africa’s spiritual sovereignty. This disconnection resulted in the erosion of indigenous institutions that once guided African societies. The book also seeks to illuminate the role played by African Initiated Churches (AICs) in asserting their attempts to merge Christianity with African practices. They failed to restore the continent’s true spiritual identity, as they remained bound by the very religious frameworks that displaced them. Politics through the rise of Pan Africanism also failed to restore Africa to its authentic spirituality as it was fused with religious dogmas.
Restoring Africa’s Spiritual Identity calls for a return to authentic spiritual institutions, guided by the revelations of genuine spiritual guiders, to reclaim Africa's spiritual sovereignty. It presents a scholarly and visionary blueprint for restoring the continent’s cosmic balance and reconnecting with its original spiritual essence.
There is a wealth of literature in the marketplace identifying the
various issues the general public has with respect to what they
believe to be the failure of the Senate and the House of
Representatives in protecting the best interest of our country and
our citizens. This book does not repeat those issues, but rather
sets forth an analysis of proposed legislation and actions that
should be taken by the Senate and the House of Representatives in
resolving those issues in the best interest of all the citizens of
our country. The proposed solutions are sufficient to identify the
issues. The People's Voice to Congress P.O. Box 3686 Del Rayo

"Extreme Devotion" strengthened readers through its hundreds of
stories of believers throughout history who exhibited courage and
devotion in the face of harsh persecution. "Heroic Faith" takes
those martyrs' life principles and challenges readers to live them
out in their own heroic faith.
This encouraging book features a chapter on each of the
principles such as self-sacrifice and courage, including some
illustrations from Christians who exhibited these characterisitics
in their own lives.
Many readers will want both on their shelves - "Extreme
Devotion" as a source of inspiration and "Heroic Faith" as a guide
for living out their own faith based on courage.
First published in 1990. This text includes information of Cuba in
1986, split over four reporting quarters. The economic crisis,
resulting from Fidel Castro's traditional subordination of economic
matters to international and political objectives, is hounding the
regime and is weakening the appeal of Cuba as a model for
developing countries.
When the State of Israel claims to represent all Jewish people,
defenders of Israeli policy redefine antisemitism to include
criticism of Israel. Antisemitism is harmful and real in our
society. What must also be addressed is how the deployment of false
charges of antisemitism or redefining antisemitism can suppress the
global progressive fight for justice. There is no one definitive
voice on antisemitism and its impact. Jewish Voice for Peace has
curated a collection of essays that provides a diversity of
perspectives and standpoints.
John Rawls was arguably the most important political philosopher of
the 20th century. Barely a word of political philosophy is written
today that is not indebted in some way to the philosophical
paradigm that Rawls bequeathed. "Rawls Explained" sets out the
thinker's complex arguments in a way that makes them accessible to
first-time readers of his hugely influential work. Both clear in
its exposition of Rawls' ideas and true to the complex purposes of
his arguments, this book also attends to the variety of objections
that have been made to them. The book is divided into three parts
corresponding to the three books that form the core of Rawls's
theory: "A Theory of Justice, ""Political Liberalism, " and "The
Law of Peoples." Each section of the book ends with a survey of
some of the main criticisms of the arguments coupled with Rawls's
strongest counterarguments.
Founded by Dave Eggers, Lola Vollen, and Mimi Lok, Voice of Witness
has amplified the stories of hundreds of people impacted by some of
the most crucial human rights crises of our time, including men and
women living under oppressive regimes in Burma, Colombia, Sudan,
and Zimbabwe; public housing residents and undocumented workers in
the United States; and exploited workers around the globe. This
selection of narratives from these remarkable men and women is many
things: an astonishing record of human rights issues in the
twenty-first century; a testament to the resilience and courage of
the most marginalized among us; and an opportunity to better
understand the world we live in through human connection and a
participatory vision of history.

Inside This Place, Not of It reveals some of the most egregious
human rights violations within women's prisons in the United
States. In their own words, the thirteen narrators in this book
recount their lives leading up to incarceration and their
experiences inside- ranging from forced sterilization and shackling
during childbirth, to physical and sexual abuse by prison staff.
Together, their testimonies illustrate the harrowing struggles for
survival that women in prison must endure.
Half a dozen years after the deadliest earthquake in the history of
the Western Hemisphere struck Haiti, the island nation remains in
crisis, but the international community no longer seems interested.
This immersive and engrossing book, based on five years of research
and scores of interviews translated from Haitian Kreyol, gives
voice to the continuing struggle of Haitian people to reconstruct
their nation from the devastation of the earthquake, and from many
decades of political and economic disaster. The earthquake killed
more than 200,000, rendered more than a million and a half
homeless, and wiped out what little infrastructure existed in the
country. But prior to the quake, half the country was illiterate
and two-thirds of Haitians lived in poverty. This book makes clear
the long genesis of the ongoing crisis and illuminates the depths
of the continuing problems, and does so through some of the most
marginal and least-heard people in the world. An interview with a
restavek--a child sent by poor parents to work as an unpaid servant
in a wealthier household--is an example. A recent study determined
a figure of 173,000 restaveks--about 8 percent of the population of
children.
Led by former schoolteacher Robert Pollard, Ohio's Guided by Voices
became indie-rock gods for their lo-fi aesthetic marked by
structural brevity, bizarre lyrics, and a preference for early to
mid-period Who. Recorded just prior to their breakup in 2004, this
episode of PBS's AUSTIN CITY LIMITS captures the band in one of
their final performances for a career-spanning selection of songs
that includes "I am a Scientist" and "Glad Girls."
The first and only album by Voice of Authority is another of the
On-U catalog's unsung gems, the abrasive union of Kishi Yamamoto,
Nick Plytas, Mark Stewart, Charlie Eskimo Fox, Evar, and Ernest
Wellington (among others) that marked Adrian Sherwood's continued
drift away from the straightforward dub styling of his earlier
work. Indeed, much of Very Big in America Right Now! echoes the
remix projects that he was undertaking for the likes of Depeche
Mode at the time -- and given that they were, indeed, very big in
America right then, the comparison might well have been deliberate.
Distortion, bizarre samples, and unexpected rhythmic convolutions
are the order of the day, in an album that can rarely be played
simply for straightforward enjoyment. Rather, it hangs out on that
precipice where industrial music took its first gallant steps, and
if the ghosts of melodies and hooks do percolate beneath the chaos
(the keyboard riff that underpins "Knock the House Down" is almost
catchy!), they are quickly chased away again. For all that, Very
Big in America Right Now! is an exhilarating listen, and certainly
points your ears toward subsequent developments on the On-U scene.
The rest of the world would follow in due course. ~ Dave Thompson
