Le Chateau interieur est un ouvrage de Therese d'Avila. La
carmelite Therese de Jesus, future sainte Therese d'Avila, redige
entre le 2 juillet et le 29 novembre 1577 cet ouvrage mystique
initialement intitule Las Moradas (signifiant en espagnol Les
Demeures). Il sera finalement publie sous le titre Castillo
interior (Le Chateau interieur). L'image du Chateau renvoie a l'ame
qui doit passer par des stades successifs pour atteindre la purete
et la perfection. Ces stades correspondent aux sept demeures du
chateau, dans lesquelles l'ame se perfectionne graduellement avant
d'atteindre l'ultime, ou se trouve Dieu, et ou se scelle l'union
divine. L'ascese, la priere et la meditation sont les portes
d'entree du chateau qui permettent d'acceder a l'extase du pur
Amour.
