The last work published by Kant himself is a study of the relationship of philosophy to other academic disciplines. The very title of the work, Streit der Fakultaten (Dispute between the Faculties), published in 1797, makes it clear that the various disciplines are related critically, even polemically, to each other. As academic disciplines they share common obligations of knowledge, enlightenment and education; in their relationship with each other, however, they have the duty to contest the means and aims of knowledge. There can only be living science where this dispute about knowledge is conducted with the means of knowledge. In this volume, representatives of the faculties addressed by Kant give their assessment of Kant's relevance for their disciplines. Iran has one of the oldest town cultures in the world. It goes back more than 4,000 years. This illustrated volume presents the Bauhaus buildings in Dessau in words and pictures and offers new perspectives on these icons of modern architecture. Walter Gropius, Hannes Meyer, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Richard Paulick, Georg Muche, Carl Fieger and Karl Friedrich Engemann: the architects at the Bauhaus in Dessau realized their designs in the industrial city between the Elbe and the Mulde rivers during the years between 1925 and 1932 and thereby created a unique ensemble of modern architecture which attracts visitors from all over the world to Dessau to this day. "Fundamentalismus" ist eine der grossen Herausforderungen der modernen Welt und zugleich einer der am haufigsten missbrauchten Begriffe. Seit uber zehn Jahren werden Personliche Budgets in Form von Modellprojekten in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland erprobt und bis heute sind die Erwartungen an die Potenziale hoch gesteckt. Sowohl die Rolle, die das Konzept fur das politische Gemeinwesen Europa spielen kann als auch seine U- prunge, Bedingungen und Inhalte. Die Diskussion halt an, Klarung tut not. Die einen sehen in einer klaren Vorstellung von Identitat die Seele Europas, ohne die die den Menschen fernen und schwer verstandlichen Institutionen der Union zu einer menschenfernen Maschinerie verkommen mussten, die auf immer den Burgern der Gemeinschaft entfremdet bliebe, und das europaische Einigungswerk zu einem fragwurdigen Kunstgebilde, einer Art burokratischem Monstrum machte, das in den Herzen und Koepfen der Europaer ein Fremdkoerper bleibt. Andere hoffen, dass die Burger der Union in nicht allzu entfernter Zukunft eine Identifi- tion mit diesem Gemeinwesen entwickeln, das in der Art und vielleicht sogar in der Dichte dem gleichkommt, was in Europa im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert an nationalen Identitaten ausgebildet wurde.
