Stop it. Stop it! Everyone! We're on holiday, we're meant to be
having a nice time. What the hell is wrong with you? Tomas and Ebba
are determined to have quality family time with their children, so
they head to the Alps on a skiing trip. But when disaster strikes,
their family unit is tested to breaking point with hilarious and
tragic consequences. Ruben OEstlund's award-winning comedy about a
family falling apart is adapted for the stage by Tim Price. This
edition was published to coincide with the world premiere at
London's Donmar Warehouse in December 2021.
"Tim Price's play about two hackers is tumultuous, energetic and
ultimately touching in its vision of a global network of young
people dedicated to challenging the status quo." Guardian A
sixteen-year-old London schoolboy and an eighteen-year-old recluse
in Shetland meet online, pick a fight with the FBI and change the
world forever. This brave and challenging play gets behind the code
with the original Anonymous members, offering an anarchic retelling
of the birth of hacktivism. Teh Internet is Serious Business is a
fictional account of the true story of Anonymous and LulzSec, the
collective swarm who took on the most powerful capitalist forces
from their bedrooms. The play received its world premiere at the
Royal Court, London, in September 2014. This new Modern Classics
edition features an introduction by Hamish Pirie.
An English-language guide to walking in the mountains to the north
of Madrid, mainly but not exclusively within the National Park of
the Sierra de Guadarrama. In this book, the third one in the
Spanish Trails series, Phil Lawler and Tim Price present
descriptions and sketch maps of 32 walks in the mountain ranges to
the north of Madrid. It will be surprising to many people to find
mountains rising to over 2,400 metres (alsmost 8,000 feet) within
one hour of Spain's capital city. The mountains can in fact be
clearly seen from the northern part of Madrid's city centre. The
book contains a selection of easy, moderate and difficult walks in
an approximately geographical sequence from the north-west of the
city to the north-east. Details are included about how to access
the walks, normally by car. Information is also provided about
public transport (trains and buses) in the area. The walk
descriptions are supplemented by sketch maps, which are intended to
be used in conjunction with topographical maps, for which
recommendations are given in the book. Other titles in the Spanish
Trails series include the Picos de Europa (ISBN 978-0-9955797-0-5)
and the Sierra Almijara and Tejeda (near Competa and Nerja) in the
south (ISBN 978-0-9955791-1-2).

Do algorithms and machine learning set us free, or trap us forever?
Roger hates technology, but when his daughter gives him an Isla
device for Lockdown 2020, he finds himself opening up to the
virtual assistant device. What happens when the only fulfilling
relationship you have is with a digital slave? Isla asks what are
the costs and benefits of machine learning...and do we want the AIs
to learn from us? This edition was published to coincide with the
world premiere at Theatre Clwyd, in association with the Royal
Court in October 2021.
Bradley Manning is the 24-year-old US soldier accused of the
release of thousands of US embassy emails to Wikileaks. On Friday
16th December 2011, his pre-trial hearing opened in Fort Meade in
Maryland. Manning faces a maximum sentence of life in custody with
no chance of parole. But just a few years ago, he was a teenager in
west Wales. How does his story impact on the people he left behind,
and who is responsible for his 'radicalisation'? The Radicalisation
of Bradley Manning aims to place him in the pantheon of great Welsh
radicals, from the Chartists to Aneurin Beva. This young soldier,
who names the president of the United States as a defence witness,
knows bus timetables around Haverfordwest. This young man who
played a part in the Arab spring, knows the trials of schoolboy
rugby. This young soldier who apparently chose his moral code over
his military one, speaks rudimentary Welsh. Tim Price's trademark
humanity, warmth and wit depicts a complex portrait of Manning as a
modern-day, troubled and flawed martyr, but a martyr nonetheless.
The investment markets have never been more dangerous. Interest
rates are at all-time lows; the sanctity of cash deposits is under
threat; government bonds are expensive and offer ultra-low or
negative yields; equity markets are largely detached from reality
after years of loose monetary policy. Investors need to calibrate
themselves to the realities of this extraordinary new environment
so that they can protect their wealth and, ideally, prosper. In
Investing Through the Looking Glass, longstanding portfolio manager
and investment columnist Tim Price identifies and shatters a number
of investment myths and misconceptions. He questions whether stock
markets inevitably rise over the longer term, whether bonds
continue to be relevant as a failsafe low-risk asset, whether
professional fund managers represent "smart money", and much more
besides. But this is not just a counsel of despair. Having
identified the problems besetting today's investor, the focus then
moves on to practical guidance to help investors preserve and grow
their capital in this age of inflationary and deflationary
uncertainty. Tim Price provides ideas on how to find attractive
investments in distorted equity markets, on what might be the
best-kept secret in finance, and how best to insure portfolios in
an environment of heightened systemic risk. Investing Through the
Looking Glass presents a route map for navigating one of the most
challenging financial environments that anyone has ever seen. For
the sake of your wealth, can you afford not to read it?
Tim Price's Salt, Root and Roe is a heartbreaking, humorous tale of
love and family set against a mythical backdrop. Set on the
Pembrokeshire coast in West Wales, identical twins Iola and Anest
remain devoted to each other. Ageing fast, and with the time they
have together more fragile by the day, they arrive at a desperate
decision. Word of this reaches Anest's daughter Menna, who rushes
to her long abandoned childhood home where her own ideas of love
and compromise are tested to the limit. In spite of the sombre
themes of death and bereavement, the writing is light, textured and
at times very funny: picking out moments of joy and sadness with
seemingly effortless grace. Touching relationships and believable
characterisation provide a poignant backdrop to Salt, Root and Roe,
where pragmatism, exhausted lives and childrens' fairytales collide
in this exploration of grief, loss and acceptance.
TX Sports Trivia celebrates the highs and lows of the state's rich
sporting industry. From football to fighting, golf to gymnastics
and biking to bowling games, TX sports have known their share of
booms and busts. Find it all in this fun book of interesting
factoids.
The aim of this book is the first of a series to provide off the
shelf wargames that may be of immediate use in military training.
This book contains 4 ready to use wargames: Game 1: The Sandhurst
Kriegsspiel aims to allow officers to test the plan they devised in
a TEWT on the actual ground using the tool of wargaming. Game 2:
The Battlegroup Kriegsspiel is next level up game. While still a
kriegsspiel, dependent on sound military judgement by the umpire
(and players), it includes some hard operational research based
tables to help arbitrate the combat outcomes. Game 3: Current Ops:
the Modern Infantry Battle is a more rigid kriegsspiel, with more
detailed rules to govern movement, combat, suppression and
ammunition expenditure. Game 4: Counter IED Kriegsspiel is an
excellent example of using some of the recent developments in
wargaming to create an engaging game about when faced by an IED
threat. This book is part of a series documenting current practice
in professional wargaming.
Introduced by the author, this is the first collection of Tim
Price's plays. The winner of the 2013 James Tait Black Prize for
Drama, Tim Price's work includes For Once; Salt, Root and Roe; The
Radicalisation of Bradley Manning; I'm With the Band; Protest Song
and Under the Sofa (published here for the first time). For Once:
Through a series of interweaving accounts, For Once cuts to the
heart of a family and a community turned upside down by
unimaginable tragedy. Salt, Root and Roe: A wry, heart-breaking
drama of love, grief and acceptance set against the mythical
backdrop of North Pembrokeshire. The Radicalisation of Bradley
Manning: This award-winning play tackles one of the most
controversial political stories of our age, placing it in the
context of other great Welsh radicals, from the Chartists to
Aneurin Bevan. I'm With the Band: A witty response to the Scottish
Independence debate in which an Englishman, a Northern Irishman, a
Scotsman and a Welshman struggle to maintain the previous harmony
of their rock band. Protest Song: Price's funny and savage
monologue which explores the reality of the Occupy movement through
Danny who sleeps rough on the steps of St Paul's Cathedral. Under
the Sofa: Previously unpublished, Under the Sofa is a mother's
monologue about the experience of her son being in prison for a
violent crime.
The last few years have seen an explosion of new Welsh writing for
the stage. With the advent of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru in 2003 and
the launch of National Theatre Wales in 2009, there has been a
tectonic shift in Welsh theatre and its perception. Today, there
are national theatres telling Welsh stories with wit, verve and
ambition in both languages, with playwrights at the heart. The
explosion of quality work from Wales's national theatres has
stimulated thriving fringe theatre scenes in its cities, and raised
the bar for other theatres across the UK. Wales has celebrated its
poets and novelists, but in the 21st century, it is the playwright
who is asking the crucial questions. In particular, what does it
mean to be Welsh in the 21st century? Never before has there been
so many playwrights of all ages, from across Wales, finding the
stage the home for their stories. This collection of contemporary
Welsh plays is the first to officially recognise this 'new wave' of
Welsh playwrights, ranging from established, award-winning writers
to those on the cusp of national recognition. It showcases a wide
range of forms, themes and political concerns, as well as
representing the most exciting voices at the forefront of Welsh
drama. By taking the temperature on the first golden age of Welsh
playwriting, this volume is the first collection in this new Welsh
canon. This volume features the following plays: The Radicalisation
of Bradley Manning by Tim Price Parallel Lines by Kath Chandler
Bruised by Matthew Trevannion Llwyth by Dafydd James (in Welsh)
Gardening for the Unfulfilled and Alienated by Brad Birch
Tonypandemonium by Rachel Trezise Includes a foreword by David Ian
Rabey and Charmian Savill, an introduction by Tim Price and Kate
Wasserberg, and a chronology of major events in Welsh playwriting
in the 21st century.
"In Matrix Games, knowledge, imagination, and persuasiveness

of a series to make key developments in wargaming available to the
professional wargamers, as well as those from a hobby background.
It was too exciting. There was something amazing going on all the
time. I learn an entirely different kind of London. All these
buildings people walk past every day, and there's so much power in
them, but no one knows. Tory Party HQ, City Hall, Egyptian Embassy,
American Embassy, Foreign Office, but no one holds them to account.
No one says, You answer to us. Danny sleeps rough on the steps of
St Paul's Cathedral. Has done for years. Then one morning he wakes
to see a canvas city being erected in front of him. And Danny finds
himself swept up in the last occupation of London. Tim Price's
funny and savage monologue explores the reality of the Occupy
Movement. Inspired by a true story, this account of an unlikely
hero allows us inside a remarkable political moment. Protest Song
received its world premiere in the National Theatre's Shed Theatre
on 16 December 2013. This edition features an introduction by the
playwright, Tim Price.
An Englishman, a Northern Irishman, a Scotsman and a Welshman
walked into a recording studio and created The Union. Commercially
successful and critically acclaimed, the pioneering indie rock band
is now on the verge of breaking up. When financial disaster strikes
and Scottish guitarist Barry leaves the band, artistic differences
go head to head with alliances that run deep, can The Union
survive? With live music from a four-piece ensemble, I'm With the
Band is a witty and timely response to our changing political
landscape.
In a place where everyone knows your name you can't forget who you
are. Life, love and loss in a picture postcard town is laid bare in
this heart-breaking but darkly comic new play. Through a series of
interweaving accounts For Once cuts to the heart of a family, and a
community, turned upside down by unimaginable tragedy. For Once
examines the fallout after a car crash on a country lane takes the
life of two local teenagers, through three interlaced monologues by
their surviving friend Sid and his parents, April and Gordon,
exposing the pre-existing faultlines in the family. Sid has been
left partially sighted by the crash, and his account of his life
before and since the accident gives an insight into why young
people living in what seems like 'ideal' communities are driven to
seek thrills elsewhere, sometimes with horrifying consequences.
However, far from being depressing, Tim Price's skill at capturing
the revealing inarticulacy of the teenager, as well as his troubled
parents, makes for unexpected humour. For Once is a powerful and
incisive look at life and death in a small market town and
premiered on 8 July 2011 at the Hampstead Theatre in a production
by Pentabus Theatre.
