Die Kontroverse um das damals genannte Cordoba House alias die Ground Zero Mosque." Dabei ware es beinahe verstandlich ja sogar zu erwarten, dass sich ein sensationsorientierter Boulevardjournalismus uber den Bau einer Moschee direkt am ehemaligen Standort des World Trade Centers lauthals auslassen wurde. Das Problem war nur, dass es sich nicht um eine Moschee, sondern um ein muslimisches Community Center handelte und dieses auch nicht am Ground Zero," sondern zwei Strassenblocks entfernt errichtet werden sollte. Ein weiteres Problem war, dass sich die Debatte nicht auf den televisuellen Boulevardjournalismus beschrankte, sondern als national ausgeweitete Angelegenheit sowohl uber die Cable News Networks" als auch die traditionellen Broadcasting Networks" gefuhrt wurde. In dieser Arbeit soll ein genaueres Bild vom televisuellen Mediendiskurs uber das Park 51 Projekt geben. Bis zum Herbst 2003 hatten ca. 50% der privaten Haushalte in den Vereinigten Staaten diese neue Technologie adaptiert. (vgl. Coplan 2006, S.9) In Deutschland war dies ein Jahr spater erreicht. (vgl. Bundesverband Audiovisueller Medien 2007, S.3) Diese Technologie war die DVD. Ein optisches Speichermedium, welches sowohl fur die Film-, als auch fur die Computerspiel- und IT-Branche zum Ende des letzten Jahrtausends und fur das darauf folgende Jahrzehnt von immenser Bedeutung war. Auch wenn die DVD-Technologie mitleiweile an ihre Grenzen stosst und durch grossere Datentrager langsam ersetzt wird, spielt sie besonders fur die Distribution von Filmen immer noch eine wichtige wirtschaftliche Rolle. In dieser Arbeit soll genauer betrachtet werden, wie das Tragermedium zu seinem Erfolg kam und die Home Entertainment Industrie grundlegend ausbaute und reformierte. Bei dieser Betrachtung soll primar der US amerikanische Markt in den Fokus rucken, da die wichtigsten Ereignisse und Entwicklungen in den meisten Fallen hier ihren Ursprung hatten. Gleichzeitig sollen Daten aus Deutschland einen Eindruck daruber vermitteln, dass die rapiden Diffusionsprozesse der neuen DVD-Technologie auch in anderen Markten vorzufinden sin
