Seismic shifts in Zimbabwe's politics since the 2017 demise of Robert Mugabe have generated renewed interest in Ndabaningi Sithole, the first president of the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU).
Tinashe Mushakavanhu brings this vanguard revolutionary back to center stage through a selection of his important political and literary works.
The result is an important biographical mapping of Sithole's political and intellectual contributions to the liberation of Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe’s Constitution of 2013 provides for multi-level government at national, provincial and local level. This book explores the nature, evolution and future of this multi-level system of government against the background of international best practices.
Provincial and Local Government Reform in Zimbabwe: An analysis of the Law, Policy and Practice considers key questions about the multi-level system of government and shows how it radically differs from the old Lancaster House constitutional order.
The roles that provincial and local governments, as well as traditional leaders, fulfil in the new order are examined, the reforms needed to implement the system are outlined, and lessons to be learnt from other countries with multi-level governments are considered.
This book aims to aid the realisation of Zimbabwe’s constitutional goals of development, democracy and peace through effective multilevel governance and contributes to the international discourse on decentralisation and the role of subnational governments in Africa.

Corruption in Society: Multidisciplinary Conceptualizations is the
first book to address the notion of corruption in a truly
multidisciplinary manner, augmented with empirical evidence. The
prevalent definition in books and articles on corruption is that it
is a dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those with political and/or
economic power, typically involving bribery. This political-economy
or public choice denotation, while very useful, is inadequate for a
comprehensive understanding of the concept because the notion of
corruption appears in every discipline. For example, in the field
of chemistry, chemical corruption concerns (a) the incorporation of
defective compounds into experiments to better simulate conditions
on the early-Earth and to help us understand how the first
molecules of life formed and (b) how to make chemicals appear
safer, sometimes dodging restrictions on their use, by minimizing
the estimates of how much is released into the environment. In
order to address this shortcoming, this book provides a
discipline-by-discipline conceptualization of corruption buttressed
with evidence from the discipline.

This specially curated collection features four reviews of current
and key research on supporting cereal production in sub-Saharan
Africa. The first chapter reviews how research and development can
support smallholder wheat farmers through improving access to
resources and services. The chapter considers current obstacles
faced by smallholder farmers, including biophysical limitations
such as climatic issues, as well as socio-economic limitations such
as land availability. The second chapter assesses the importance of
increasing the adoption rate of improved maize technologies within
smallholder farming households across Africa. The chapter discusses
the economic and institutional barriers inhibiting adoption, as
well as farmer attitudes to innovation. The third chapter describes
the effect of poor soil fertility, drought and weeds on maize
yields in West Africa. The chapter considers strategies for
mitigating these constraints, including nutrient management using
fertilizers, weed management and resistant varieties of maize. The
final chapter discusses phosphorus scarcity in areas of West Africa
and details the need to improve sorghum breeding to enhance the
crop's tolerance to low-phosphorus soil conditions.

Explores and interrogates the many and diverse perspectives of the
new frontiers of African literary studies. Publication of the
seminal volume African Literature Comes of Age, by C.D.
Narasimhaiah (India) and Ernest N. Emenyonu (Nigeria), in 1988
generated the consciousness that African literature had attained
maturity by the evolution of diverse concerns among scholars,
critics, and researchers over the decades following the
publication, in the English language, of Chinua Achebe's Things
Fall Apart in 1958. Since the publication of the first volume of
African Literature Today (ALT) in the 1970s, the writings of
Africans across the continent have spread across the globe,
constituting refreshing and hitherto unimaginable epistemologies.
This 40th volume provides a serious critical response to those
changing horizons and reflects African literature's maturity,
diversity, scope, spread, and above all, relevance. The topics
discussed range from sickle cell disease to the animalization of
humans, new feminisms and stereotypes of womanhood, the different
shades of black masculinity, and political exploitation in creative
works. Reaching across boundaries, recent fictions are seen to
suggest a widening of conventional literary genres, and new forms
that change the known trajectories of dramatic theatre. The
substance, freshness, and vitality that characterize the articles
in this volume of African Literature Today bring a welcome
perspective to the continent's rich creative life.
This Briefs is the first national study on female-to-male (FtM)
transgender people's experiences in Australia. It describes an
extensive study that fills the current gap in Australian research
on the specific experiences and beliefs about transition for
contemporary Australian FtM transgender people. Following an
overview of current literature on the various aspects of and
approaches to transgender issues, this briefs describes in detail
the design, participants and findings of the study. The Briefs
offers useful statistics and stories related to participants'
identities, education, health, sexual and social lives. It ends
with recommendations to all those working in the various offices
and institutions that FtM transgender people encounter in their
everyday life, and represents and invaluable resource for
researchers, service providers and gender diverse communities
alike.
This book offers a socio-historical analysis of migration and the
possibilities of regional integration in Southern Africa. It
examines both the historical roots of and contemporary challenges
regarding the social, economic, and geo-political causes of
migration and its consequences (i.e. xenophobia) to illustrate how
'diaspora' migrations have shaped a sense of identity, citizenry,
and belonging in the region. By discussing immigration policies and
processes and highlighting how the struggle for belonging is
mediated by new pressures concerning economic security, social
inequality, and globalist challenges, the book develops policy
responses to the challenge of social and economic exclusion, as
well as xenophobic violence, in Southern Africa. This timely and
highly informative book will appeal to all scholars, activists, and
policy-makers looking to revisit migration policies and realign
them with current globalization and regional integration trends.

Succession planning at all levels of an organization is crucial.
Dream Catcher is an established coaching program designed for
anyone who wants to invest in helping others to reach their fullest
potential. The program builds leaders with the capacity to fill key
roles in organizations. The process is unique, simple, and
concisely presented in this book. Dream Catcher is based on an
approach that has been developed within and applied at QLI; a
nationally renowned center of excellence in its field. QLI is based
in Omaha, Nebraska, a city with a sub 3% unemployment rate. It is
therefore essential for businesses to provide value for their
developing team members in a manner that commands employee
engagement leading to retention. Dream Catcher is based on
neuroscience-backed theories. It is designed to assist coaches who
will guide individuals and organizations to conquer challenges.
Dream Catcher users become proficient in the art and science of
creating compelling visions for their future selves, identifying
what gaps exist in terms of skill sets, formulating plans to
execute the vision, and establishing new habits to sustain the
progress made. Those who follow this program not only learn how to
be successful in attaining skills in specific areas or disciplines
but can also apply the methods to other areas of their work and
life. Dream Catcher is geared to be a way of life, not merely
focused on short- term results.
